I currently have a Mezz with their WD700 LD shaft. I have yet to try the Revo myself but I don't think I will mind it at all.

Nice. I'm not familiar with the Revo shafts. Back when I was playing every day they only had the 314 and Z shafts, and the Z2 was new. I see a lot of people, even pros, using composite shafts, I'm not even sure what they're made of.
Carbon-fiber if I'm not mistaken.

Sounds about right. I'll post a pic of my small collection of cues later. I used to buy, sell, and trade but kinda fell out about 11 years ago.
My first cue was a Scruggs and they're my favorite cues to play with, I don't even own any other types of cues anymore. Unfortunately he has now passed on and his cues have shot up in value.

Scruggs makes a nice cue, I owned a couple back in the day. I haven't hill a ball in a decade but I should still have these 3 cues kicking around somewhere in a closet...
They're all Joss (aka or Dan Janes) cues. I don't like linen so the non-break cues are leather (black) ostritch (brown) wraps.
And just to certify how much of a non-player I am, when I bought my current house, it came with an 8' Gandy (w/rails). I gave it to a buddy of mine (he has three kids).

Great thread. From about 96-06 I owned an 8ft Olhausen with leather drop pockets and an inch of slate topped with beautiful midnight blue simonis cloth.
Had a nice set of Brunswick Centennial’s and a couple of Meucci cues, I think I still have one of them.
Just like fast cars, jet skis and beautiful houses on lakes, all those things go bye bye at a discount when you get a divorce.
I’ll still race to 5 for $100 a game with anybody.

Indeed, pool takes lots of time and practice.
Southwest cues are pretty nice and have always commanded a decent penny. They've always been highly sought after and the wait time to have one made is multiple years at this point, pretty sure it's been like that for a long time.
Did you have one made or buy one?
I look at it like this, I’m either going to put a little money in my pocket or pay for some lessons. How ever it ends up, I’ll be richer for the experience.

I was never able to play in the tournament because of work, couldn't get off Thursday-Saturday, stupid job lol. I used to go to watch some locals, Dennis, and of course all the other great players. Their buffet used to be killer. Haven't been back in about 10 years but would like to maybe go this year.

My experience is mainly with handmade cues as opposed to production/mass produced cues. That being said, I believe there are a lot of really decent mass produced cues. Predator is a name that comes to mind, but hopefully some others can chime in with suggestions. Meucci is another but even going back 15-20 years I was told they are not what they once were.

I use to love to shoot pool. It was always a great time, but I was just average at best. I was a regular at a local pool hall.
I remember when “The Color of Money” movie debuted. There was a “pool” boom. The place was packed after that. Thankfully, I just had to call ahead and they’d reserve a table for me.

I used to play all the time growing up. I would beg my parents to buy a table but they always refused. I always wanted to get one for my home. I currently don't really have the room for one. I guess I could have chosen a pool table in the basement or a poker table and went for the poker table instead. Sometimes I kind of regret it lol. Maybe one day I convince the wife to let me have both.
