Another HCL scandal? (3 Viewers)

Who the hell plays in a game, let alone gets a whole table of players to be ok with someone bringing their own decks of cards to a game where millions of dollars are at stake?
Someone's gotta bring them, I guess? You gotta have some trust/faith in the host or dealer at the least. If they considered him a friend, then it wouldn't be crazy to assume he's trustworthy? (I didn't watch the video, just read a little blurb about what was happening.)

But then I don't play for millions; maybe if I did, I'd be more vigilant.

If the guys are okay with paper I will bring out two new decks to every game and then toss em when we’re done. They are from a closed or rebranded casino and still in plastic when I open them in front of everyone.

I keep a few plastic setups but prefer paper because we can just throw them away after and they’re less than $2/deck

Right, but surely someone can spot $20 for a new setup of Copags for each game when there are millions of dollars on the table, no?

I used to say that too. But honestly, those marked decks come factory sealed too.

Not really a HCL scandal

credible cheating allegations against a player who plays on stream sometimes but the cheating is alleged to happen in private games only
True. But I feel like the more dirty people that are around your game, the less good I feel about your game.
If nothing else, it’s a good reminder that poker is filthy.

I have never seen or heard of casino cards being marked during production, do casinos order cards like this?

These are sealed, unused, cards from an actual casino that shut down or rebranded. So the casino would have had to order them that way.

Not saying you’re not right but just looking for some evidence here

Not casino, but tons of casinos/cardrooms use Fournier/COPAG/whatever.

Like @NotRealNameNoSir said above - there are so many legit loooking factory sealed marked decks available, that I just can’t put my trust in any deck.
I get what you’re saying about sealed casino decks being unique, but
1) the average poker player probably wouldn’t understand the point of a sealed casino deck
2) any deck, copag, Kem, or casino branded could be marked and resealed
3) the more we talk about this, the more weird it might feel to be the guy saying “I brought these decks, but they’re fine”

Yeah I definitely agree there is no 100% foolproof way, but if one of us as players is going to bring the cards we play with in a home game, I think using new casino cards is the safest play.

Yes I could have opened the deck up and switched the cards out and had new stickers made to seal the deck when I finished and had them rewrapped in cellophane but other than that we’re in pretty good shape.

And we go through all this for a game where we usually don’t even have $1000 in the cash box  :ROFLMAO:

Agreed, if you lay with dogs, you wake up with fleas

Well.....If you can not spot a sucker in a half an hour , you are the sucker....
