A Glimpse Inside the Goldfish Bowl - poker analysis, pr0n and random thoughts (7 Viewers)

Table was filthy, so I decided to give it a wet vac cleaning. Boy, did it need it……
Before the cleaning.

Proof that poker players are dirty squirrels….

My 16 year old daughter was in the poker room a couple days after the game, but before I'd cleaned up anything besides empties. As she walked to the back corner she got this look that was almost like horror and disgust, and I'm thinking oh god, what hell did she see? Just the mess on the floor left from a couple of squirrels eating mixed nuts. She's like "these are actual fingerprints" pointing to some greasy prints on the vinyl rail.
Yes. They're squirrels.

When I was cleaning up last weekend after poker. All I can think about is the damn squirrels..........The trash can is fricken 10 feet from the table.

Progress update on the basement (which will feature poker front and center). Cabinets installed, plumbing done, and floors installed. Next up painting. Then new TVs installed. Then perhaps a new poker table…….. hmmmmmmm.

The flooring looks great! Nice choice. I have the same idea, turn my basement into a nice living area which will definitely have a designated poker area

Question for the rounders fans - did KGB’s chips in the movies have scroll molds?

I am thinking of taking the CPC plunge. I actually don’t mind the scroll mold because I can get 44 mm for the 1k chips. Hmmmm. #setnumber8…….

These look pretty good……..

Yeah, the movie chips were all Roman mold. I went with the CSQ, only because it looked slightly more “3D” than the scroll mold.
However, getting 43mm would be very nice for the larger denoms.
What I noticed recently is that there is a possible dirty stack issue with the 500 and 1K in the standard colors…not an issue obviously if you go 43mm.

Take a look and talk to @Seeking Alpha Social Club about his set....which obviously are TRK's but on the same Scrown mold you can get from CPC. I believe there might be weight differences, but his set is the bee's knees.

Also, if you don't mind hunting around, roman molds are out there for a relabel. Kevin has my old roman's...it was a great mold.

I reached out to David, who said that he is out of stock right now. So it’s a waiting game. Everyone wants these chips!

I also asked if I could get 44 mm $500s instead of 39 mm. He said reconfiguring the machine for 44 mm is a year away……

Just out of curiosity, if I were to host a .25/.50 or a .50/$1 game - do I have enough chips if I have:

.25cent x 100
$1 x 100
$5 x 200
Of course, I have plenty of higher denominations…..

Could easily get by with it but I like 200 1s and 200-300 5s. Too many larger denoms makes the game play bigger. The fracs you have should be plenty but some like 200 fracs. Not necessary in my opinion

Bigger is always better ……

Yes, definitely a difference in weight and feel.

If you do 44mms, I'm looking to top my 44mm A mold set off. I know that's different than the mold you are using, but it might help with 44mm numbers...or maybe not.

TRKs versus CPC Scrowns

My first micro set is complete! Very excited! Thanks to @inca911 and @nlhenerd!

First, I have to say that these card mold chips are awesome, especially for the price. They look and feel great. I can’t believe it has taken me this long to get some of these chips. I see some customs in my future.

Second, I love the Aria inlay and colors. My favorites are the .25 cent and $20 chips.

Third, I bought 43 mm chips for the hi denominations ($20s and $100s). If anyone who comes to play is truly offended I also have the 39 mm versions of those denominations. Haha.

Question for the experts…. Are these two racks the same color? I really can’t tell…..

The lighting makes it tricky, but they look the same to me, yes.

I think so. If you cleaned and oiled them so they were at the same condition I don't think you could tell the difference. Even a minor amount of oil from your hands can have a noticeable impact when you are trying to compare like for like. I noticed this when I kept pulling the same few barrels out of a rack for higher denoms in my game and that they started to look different than the rest of the barrels in the rack and the other rack of that denom.

If you got an exemplar of the other blend of colors it'd be more obvious.

I’ve got a rack of the real deal $20s if you’d like (sorry, shamelessly plugging anywhere I can)

That being said, the cards mold chips are seriously great and far better than I expected. Can’t wait to see what you do with a custom set, I think they’re a great creativity outlet with the cheap price

I am now on a mission to add fracs to all my sets. I just lost an auction for BTP fracs. I am now thinking that I should have kept bidding. Truth be told I am not sure why I stopped. Hahaha. Oh well, next time. Anyway, looking at plan B - Paris 1s for the BTP fracs and ES $1s for the BTP $1s. I think the line up looks pretty good but I am no expert. Let me know your thoughts…..and yes, I know the fracs are a close blue to the 5ks, but there is no chance those chips will ever be on the table at the same time. Haha.

And yes, I know there is a lot of white in the fracs, 1s and 5s, but it seems okay……

I like those as a frac. I don't think dirty stacks will be an issue either.

the 0.25 - 25 is really sweet. I think you'd want a different pattern of spots for the 100s though, same size, just different layout. Maybe something that was 8D18.

Not sure I'd run it all the way up to 5k as that's kinda crazy for one set outside a casino but ymmv.

Agree, no change dirty stack is an issue with the frac and the 0.25, not to mention they aren't the same size.

I'd like to see a mock lineup with an Aurora Star snapper there.

So, with the purchase of the SB $5s and SB $20s (on the way) from Krish @Windwalker, I unintentionally backed in to a very sweet SB micro set with minimal relabeling work. I am now kicking myself for not picking up the SB $1s as well, but maybe the Paris $1s can be a decent replacement….. thoughts?

Btw, this is exactly why I have so many sets, I buy chips for one intended purpose, and it turns into something else……..now I really wish I didn’t sell my rack of SB $100s (doh!!).
