Tourney 15k 150BB structure (1 Viewer)

I have to consider this Mark. Thanks for sharing
I've seen a few starting stacks of 10/6/6/x, which is more efficient, but I think 6 $500s per is stingy once you color up the T100s.

10/10/9/x does require a lot of $500s, but I had previously accounted for a T25 base 8/8/8/x set, so I have equal 500s to 100s in this particular set.

Used this structure last night, we were 6 handed. As far as abandoning the T25s I am now fully converted, using base T100 made things much simpler and allowed things to flow so much better. Blinds use fewer chips in general, the pot is soooo much easier to count for us causals, and no coloring up until later.

Actually we didn't colour up at all as we ended at L9, a little on the short side with 39bb on the table, which may have been due to the slightly more aggressive increases, but equally (or perhaps more likely) is that we had a few monster pots in level 1 which led to 3 early rebuys and, ultimately, early eliminations.

Edit: made a mess of the first quote.
Edited again cos I messed up the second effort :banghead:

This should work out right? After about 5 hours we want to wrap up hence the bigger blind jumps and shorter levels.

I'd imagine I have more than enough chips to cover rebuys and add-on's but if not I have a temp t25k chip from another set on standby.

Exactly how I would write this as far as the blinds go.

I am not super keen on dropping levels to 15 minutes unless you get past the 20BB in play point.

Assuming 20 players as written you probably fit 5 hours. (Not counting breaks.). But personally, I would probably drop the starting stack to 10-12k rather that drop the level length to 15 minutes that early in the tournament.

How many players are you expecting? Do you have reentries?

Late edit for some alternatives:

You could drop the 800-1600 level and keep that group at 20 minutes each. Or you could keep 800-1600, change 1000-2000 to 1200-2400 and drop 1500-3000, and restart at 2000-4000 after the color up.

But again, I may just be picking nits here. But I find these alternatives preferable to 15 minute levels where I would assume the tournament will still be full handed.

We are usually around the 12/16 player mark. I think we are expecting 12 tonight.

Usually about 5 rebuys and nearly everyone does the add on so there's a shit ton of chips in play most of the night. I originally had it planned for a 10k starting stack but I want the 5k's in play early. haha

Then you are probably fine.

I am only suggesting tweaks so you don't have to shorten the levels, but if you are good, this looks good.

I suppose my main question is, are the increases too steep? How would you feel about playing this structure?
I have a very similar structure to yours for my current league season and my % increases almost mirror your levels. (20 minute levels). We are a 10k 25/50 structure as well but I have Round 1 at 25-50 blinds. Rebuys until Level 6 (200-400 blinds) and then I remove T25s and T50s. Interestingly I found that Round 18 15000-30000 blinds was necessary to get better timing on a finish. Looks like you also came to that conclusion in your breakout. We are currently ~6 hours total playing time.

It works very nicely for us, I have never had players complain about the steep increases. Cant have it every way I guess.

Follow up. We ended up with 13.

We had 5 rebuys and everyone added on.

Finished at 30k/60k and ran right at 6 hours and 30 minutes.

10 minute levels began with either 4 or 5 players left so still plenty of hands per orbit as I was dealing since I was eliminated.

I think for next time I'm going to lower the starting stack down to 10k as I like the level progression (no huge random jumps).
