So the Gardenas weren't a group buy? @BGinGA
This is my limited understanding of the Gardenas history:

They were a real casino, and they ordered real chips, which is why some are shaped inlays. The Casino was closed before delivery, and therefore Paulson was stuck with a lot of already manufactured chips. They then started selling it out of their storefronts, and when those ran out, they started making more with the round labels. And maybe this was the start of the fantasy/home game line (base/spot coloration) that we see in various incarnations??

Edit: Whoops, I see @churlbut18 already said this better in the other thread:

Sorry lol I knew that, I was just ribbing Dave.

I have no dog in this fight, but I have seen plenty of pictures that @Changster has posted of his chips, some have also been in use at the time.
I had to read three times to see where I was missing the “just kidding!” (unless this is some new avant-garde sarcasm). Edit: Referring to rereading Pltyrs.

Guess I’ll be rushing to get some darn pictures up before I get ignored by all! @Changster, if I had chips nice enough for you, I’d gladly sell!

All Horseshoe Gardenas are fantasy -- they were never delivered and used in a real casino. That makes them same degree of fantasy chips as PNYs, for one.

As a matter of fact, if you consider Gardenas supposedly ordered but not delivered to a legally operating casino to be "real casino" chips, then so are Empress Star, Aurora Star, and Pacific Star chips. :cool
Would you classify Jack's the same way?

@pltrgyst I think you are stretching term fantasy to include what you want it to mean.
Chips made for real casinos are casino chips.
Whether used or not, delivered to casino or consumer.
Pretend casino chips are fantasy.

;)

Holy shit. We have reached a point where people are turning down valid bids because they dont like that they post enough chip porn. What a world we live in now....

But what do I know, I've only been "offically" chipping since July 2017.

OK, let me make this clear: @Changster, you're probably a perfectly nice guy. But you're bidding in the other Gardena sale -- the one with multiple racks of essentially useless $50s, etc. -- so I'd prefer that you not bid here.

I felt slimy for a week after accepting too much of your money for the two racks of ES quarters.

If I'm going to sell chips, even by auction, I'd like them to go somewhere where I'm confident they'll have a good home.

So yeah, you're going on my ignore list, and I'd appreciate being put on yours.
I knew he wouldn’t let me down folks!

GLWS!

I know you already blocked me cause I don’t make my history public (don’t worry I’m turning myself into the police later today) but I hope you know when you block someone you don’t have to make a scene over it regardless of how old-angry-man your reasons are.

GLWS!
Bid on chips I find useless... YOU ARE BLOCKED.

Wait.. why does the guy who has a image saying "he wants them all" then block someone for wanting all the chips (and seemingly can afford them all). I think he's jealous...

Part of me feels he was being sarcastic and hyperbolic. May be we all shouldn’t get bent out of shape over one comment. Though, putting up a competitve sale thread when someone else is try to make a similar sale is either poor timing or just poor form.

I think he did it to show the real value of these chips especially for the newer chippers so that they don't pay inflated prices for sets with less than ideal breakdowns. i don't know the guy and i don't know his intentions but that's how i saw it and if my understanding is correct I think it's a good thing what he did for the chipping community.

One of the overriding characteristics of many members of this forum is that they are compelled to "look out" for the new guys, or for many, "look out" for everyone. In most instances, what they are really doing is looking for opportunities to feel good about themselves and/or protect their ideal of this place as a community.

There is no better teacher than experience, period. Allowing other members, especially new ones, to lose money on uninformed decisions is the best thing you can do for them...

I definitely agree that experience is valuable, but if someone reaches out to me or other members to learn from our experiences then I think that person is pretty smart and I will offer my best advice. If they don’t, I’m not going to out of my way to offer it unsolicited either and they can learn however they can and hit the potholes in the road along the way.

Completely agree. If someone asks for advice, I say by all means, advise away! My issue is more with the assumption that other adults "need" help...

Maybe OP is just brilliant enough to know that one divisive and nonsensical comment is enough to drive the masses wild leading to his For Sale post to top the charts for days.

On another note, do we have a list on who is allowed to both bid and win these/his auctions? Am I allowed to bid?

in @pltrgyst defense, he and I butted heads many-a-time in the past online. But I've met him in person at multiple events and we've always gotten along quite well.

I too, have had people think one thing of me, based on either online interactions only (or from what others said of me in the past) and then they met me and we got along famously.

Likewise, there are folks I butted heads with for my first few years in the community and I get along fine with them now. We don't always see eye-to-eye on things, and sometimes I'm wrong and sometimes they're wrong, and sometimes we're both wrong.

But at the end of the day, life is too short to feed into the negativity.

CLIFFS: kumbaya mfkers!

I'm all for it! If I had my druthers, I just wish I had come across a Pltr Post much earlier on in my short PCF career!

...I would've immediately walked away muttering about grumpy old men and fruit, and saved LOTS of money.
