About to attend the Suicide Queen Melee this weekend and was inspired by the pirate coconut trophies into crafting what I believe is a new game?

I call it Scurvy, and it's part 7-Card Stud, part 5-Card Draw

HOW IT WORKS

There is a button, and a small and big blind.

1. Five down cards are dealt to each player

2. Betting round #1, starts with the first active player to the left of the big blind

3. Draw (draw cards dealt first and players may only draw up to 3 cards, then each receives 1 additional card face-up)

4. Betting round #2, starts with the first active player to the left of the button

5. Draw (draw cards dealt first and players may only draw up to 3 cards, then each receives 1 additional card face-up)

6. Showdown

a - players may only draw from their hidden hole cards, not their face-up cards

b - showdown is a split pot where the best 5 card draw hand (made up solely of your hole cards) and the best 7-card stud hand (made up of your five best cards out of the total 7 you have) are awarded half the pot each.

Seven card double draw? Not sure I like the double draw but I'd try it if it was called.

Need an 80-card deck for this game! I'd consider cutting it down to only one draw. Perhaps 5 cards, bet, upcard, bet, draw, upcard, bet. It would still only really be playable 5-max though.

Also I think it would play better if the 2 halves of the pot were not so highly correlated - I'd expect significantly more scoops than split pots. Maybe make it the best 5-card draw hand and best Razz hand? :sneaky:

Excellent points Ben. How about this change-up:

1. Players are dealt one upcard and four down cards

2. Betting round, then single drawing round (players can draw up to three cards to replace their hole cards, or all four if their upcard is an Ace)

3. Betting round, showdown with hi/lo split pot?
