Hi,

What’s the set you regret to not have bought while it was available and while you had the funds ?

From my end, I regret a lot to not have pulled the trigger on time when Christy and Jones The Post (San Jose) were available in quantity at @Spinettis Gaming few years ago.

Today, I have a full sample of these and I use the $5 in my mixed hotstamp set (NL10 / NL20).

Wow that’s amazing. Are these the “commemorative” chips that I see people mention about? Or are these from the actual casino (R.I.P)?
Actual casino chips sold by Spinetti’s. The commemorative ones are China clays that don’t look nearly as good.

I'd say my main regret was after selling my mint Empress Casino chips ($5 sec, $25 prim, a barrel of hundoes pro) because I wasn't finding any $1 chips in mint condition and once I had sold all my Empress chips, someone finally offering me some $1 sec (mint, very rare) for sale :(. I had the money but didn't buy those for this reason.

Also wish I'd ordered BCC MGKs back when I had the chance.

But you did...we just got screwed.
Glad I still have my 800 Midnight Jazz Club MGK solids (altho BCC screwed up that order like a pro)...these are awsome (TRK colors)

I should have bought more TRK rounders (and not sell the ones I owned)
BUT...only one real regret...not being in on the Stars buys

Vineyards on eBay 8 or 9 years ago. I suspect somebody on PCF is loving them.

Decent size set (600 or 700 chips I think), and I believe the bid was below $1,500. This would have been my first major chip purchase. The wife even gave me the thumbs up because she loved the colors, but I just couldn't pull the trigger on such a "ridiculously priced" set of chips. Boy was I a dumb ass!!

When I started chipping my funds were low due to being a student at that time. Otherwise I would have gotten myself:

- A BCC set (customs and maybe Proteges or so)
- many more PCAs from Jim
- Pointe After Casinos from Jim
- maybe Casablancas from the original seller (they seemed overpriced to me at that time)

Biggest selling regret: A rack of spotted birds I bought way back from @Toby and sold to a French chipper for 140€ a few months later...

For me it was not buying samples of compression clay chips... Paulson, BCC, TRK, CPC. I couldn't justify spending over $1/chip and so I only focused on ceramics, China clays and slugged chips. It wasn't until I bought samples of Paulson NPS and WTHC years later that I realized what I'd been missing and by then it was too late to buy them retail as they were all gone.

So even if you don't think you can afford/justify the pricetag of compression clay chips, get samples of them anyway. You can almost always sell them back for at least what you paid. Realizing you want them later in life will just cost you even more.

Not getting custom TRKs.

Not putting my order in for a BCC custom set, when I had the MGK mold lined up and was balking at the 5000 chip minimum.

Not getting custom TRKs.

Not buying the living daylights out of the last BCC GCR Bluesman hotstamp GB.

Not getting custom TRKs.

Not buying racks and racks of a certain house mold set that was all over eBay.

Not getting custom TRKs.

Not getting custom TRKs. :banghead:
