Matsui Cash Set GB - Design Thread (2 Viewers)

Can I propose the crazy idea of using standard colors for this set?

I am not even remotely interested in this idea. A yellow one or five is a must for me. I would prefer it to be a yellow one. I will settle for it being the five. Outside of that. I can be flexible with about anything.

I have really enjoyed a few of @BGinGA and @liftapint mock ups.

winner winner chicken dinner ... I love this chip for a 100

This is why design-by-thread-consensus never works.

This is totally true. I've actually been in contact with a Matsui rep for the past 6 months, with the end goal of ordering a cash set of these. It will cost more than a group buy, but I'm probably going the custom route anyway. Just throwing ideas at the wall, in case those in this thread were interested. But if the collective comes up with something I really like, that could be a good option too.

How much more? Were kind of on the same page on denomination colors.

Well, artwork fee is $300/denom. That's the main difference -- spreading that out over more chips. I don't think the chip price itself changes with quantity.

Gotcha. That pushes it out of my price range if you would have even allowed me to jump in on your buy (I'm sure your design will be awesome!)

Since we are all chucking out ideas , infigure I'll throw a Cali colour set in the mix.
The orange $20 would be the brighter colour though from Tommy's earlier post.
Two frac options

I like the first frac. Its much brighter. As I said, I probably won't be getting a frac anyways. The one is spot on. I would like a brighter, maybe a little more contract secondary color for the five. Lock up the 20!

We agree that we're all not going to agree unanimously when we all have an equal voice. You can see the fun we had the last time we tried a group think Matsui ideas thread. There's definitely a benefit to sharing the label artwork cost across multiple people which brings down the cost for everyone and is the only economical way to get the sharp edged denom in inlay chips.

Perhaps it's time for someone to define the chip set and inlay and the rest of us decide if we want to be a part of it or not with no "how about this or how about that". And for the inlay, something like the Nevada guy would be cool. No pressure @liftapint :)

I just kind of said the same thing to her via PM. I agree. Ultimately we need someone (or a small group of people) to come up with something to present to the masses. At a minimum, we need the chips and base colors.

artwork fee is $300/denom
That's $2100 for seven denominations (and 5c, 25c, $1, $2.50, $5, $20, $25, $100 is eight). At that price, we're probably better off financially just picking a single no-value denomination label for all ordered chips (and a single $300 artwork charge) and each getting custom aftermarket labels from @Gear to fit our specific needs.

@Tommy -- will Matsui sell them blank/unlabeled?

It was a couple years ago, but the last time I talked to Miz he told me that if only the denom was changing he would cut me a break on the artwork fees. Hopefully you guys could work out something similar if this is the case.

How do you delete a saved chip in the Matsui chip designer? I keep getting kicked to the main page each time I try, and the design never goes away.

Already have that with the BW chips, right? I for one, hope this takes a different direction. Though I would probably buy some, only because these chips are fantastic.

Or switch to decal value moulds and only pay the $300 once given they’ll all have the same center.

you are all wrong.

Borg is for John Borg, a pinball designer at Stern who has made such hits as: Iron Man, Aerosmith, Tron, Metallica, Avatar, Austin Powers, Twister, GnR and Jurassic Park

The colors of the chips will obviously be based on the main colors of these games

To get this thread back on track, I agree with these sentiments. We could go back and forth for years before settling on something if there isn’t some kind of process to keep us moving forward.

I like the idea of having a generic single label for the $300 fee, then having a boatload of chips to choose from. This allows everyone to basically custom pick which chips are what denominations making the order larger which in turn keeps the cost down.

Is there a minimum amount of chips that need to be ordered per design (if the group orders 30k chips, can there be 30 different color combos and spots as long as the center label is the same?)
