If you are new to this forum the whole Broken Arrow/
Tina chip situation isn’t intuitive.
Broken Arrow is a member here that sells cards and chips he has made through a manufacture in China (
Tina is the reference to his contact there). They are ceramic chips but there are options with molded in designs and textures along with eh option to have a label inserted. This way you can get a ceramic ships that looks and feels very very close to a clay chip for A LOT less money.
He has a link where you can view all the premade chip designs. Many are copies of real casinos with the appropriate edge spots…but they are not identified. You recognize them if you know these famous casinos and their chips. They are presented as set with all the colors but you can mix and match by the codes. Like a white chip from one and a red chip from a different design set. You can choose some options that have artwork or you can just send him a file of your own artwork for the label. I think this is a really cool option and having just bought a set of 1200 I can attest that they look and feel very close to clay chips..
They also have an option of doing flat ceramic chips, much like BR pro and any design or edge spot you can come up with.
I own a 1200 chips set of ASMs custom clay (now classicpokerchips.com), a 1200 chip set of BR Pro 43mm’s, and a 1200 chips set set of Broken Arrow/
Tina (their Bellagio chips with my own modified label) in 39mm
The clay chips are the simple 312 pattern edge spot which was all that was offered in 2002 when I put my first order in. They are now $2.52 a chip. More interesting edge spots designs can be more than double that.
The BR Pros were .90 a chip I think and i did a design that didn’t require the extra expense of edge bottle alignment
The Broken Arrow set cost me just under .50 a chip I think. With this option you want to get the artwork squared away because there is no back and forth and help from the manufacturer's designers. They also dont send proofs
All that said, for a first set, it’s hard to not recommend the
Tina/Broken Arrow option. They are the least expensive and offer a lot of bang for the buck. They will take 2-3 months.
Custom Clay could take many months and get very expensive if you get the more interesting edge spots designs they offer now. But they will be as close to real custom clay casino chips you can possible obtain
BR Pro will help you with the design and are very pleasant to deal with. They take only a couple weeks to ship. These are straight up ceramic chips…which some casinos use as well
Pictured here are my
Tina/Broken Arrow, the Br Pro and Clay chips in one pic, and the set of BR Pro 43mm so you can see the difference
