Controversial Chip & Poker Opinions (39 Viewers)

You guys talk game strategy, sports, and politics. But it gets better when you move to chatting card rooms and spot patterns.

Right. But I guess I’ve never talked about any of that stuff while playing cards…to be fair.

I just assumed other people do.

I talk mostly about meat, motorcycles and firearms….and sometimes strength training.

So, talking about chips and spot patterns is nice every once in a while.

Very specific clay discs with specific color combinations and condition is important. Also, the location that the chips originated from may be a deal breaker, but we aren't too picky.
And God FORBID someone disagrees with an objective fact like which are BETTER! THINK RATIONALLY, DAMNIT.

Here's a controversial opinion - you custom cut card people (yes, I was sorely tempted to use another C word, instead of "people") are out of your damn minds. You can get cut cards for 50 cents apiece on amazon. And when they say "casino quality," it's actually true. Because those solid color cut cards are all I've ever seen at a casino.

It’s another fun thing to have I guess, but man the drama over them has been insane to witness.

A different way to think of it?

They’re like $1.

If a host is paying thousands and thousands for specific chips, chairs, animal balloon artist, table, felts, cup holders, magicians, hotdog roller, coffee nitro keg, urinals, etc., why wouldn't they spend $1-$2 for a custom, high quality standard cut card?

Sure. And make sure you cut a special slot in your earthquake proof chip case for them.

Dice chips are pretty cheap too!

🎯 Does It Matter in Real Play?

Yes — especially for:
  • Poker rooms
  • High-limit games
  • Casinos
  • Professional dealing environments
In home games it’s less critical, but once you deal with high-quality custom cut cards, stock ones feel cheap and slippery.

Wow gee, how insightful and helpful. I really love how it uses lots of words and font sizing and emojis to make the bullshit seem helpful.
