At this point, I'm assuming it's very common for all niche hobbies like this to not have any feedback or public profile history/tracking.

Your high fidelity, classic games, vintage watches, etc. hobbies.

It's kinda crazy at this point how often people reneg on their sales or purchases, publicly dibs chips and then privately change or assume a diff deal can be made via pm, etc. And everyone does so freely without ever having the slightest tinge of any accountability knowing there will never be any public history.

I don't have a similar hobby, so I don't know. But given my outspokenness on this, I must be either wrong or in the minority.

Public information is generally better for everyone, private information is generally better only for those looking looking for something. The latter tells you why it happens so much, but you know this.

I believe you, and would never assume you would do that.

Via pms, it seems like some of these might be unique experiences, sometimes not. I also have no clue whether or not I buy/sell racks and sets less than, more than, or equal to the average.

As a non vendor and dealing mostly in racks and sets, I've shipped about $5k worth of USPS packages in the last 4 years. I don't deal in especially high end stuff, but that ballparks somewhere in the 6 figures range of chips moving.

Just kinda bizarre at some point to have not the slightest tool, feedback, or history at fingertips when exchanging what amounts to many people's annual salary each year.

I think people who “release dibs” or back out of a deal should get a scarlet letter on their profile. I also think that people who post wanted ads should feel obligated to buy, if somebody replies to them (assuming reasonable price.)
This should go for everything in life, but it’s even more important in a poker website. Nobody wants to play poker with a guy who’s full of shit.
