this review suggests only 2 years. That said, I'm told that aging happens faster in Tx due to the heat.

My bad. The photo was really small, and I thought it was one of the bottled in bond special releases that are aged longer. Yes, the aging does occur faster here. I've actually never had the regular release, but always have the cask strength releases (bourbon and rye) on hand. And I buy the special releases whenever I can get them.

I have the 5 year BiB rye and it is SPECTACULAR!!!

And you still haven't said which bottle was your favorite! :D

I've been sort of looking around for this and today I found it. Curious if anyone else here has tried it and if you think it's worth the cost?

Passed up a Larceny full proof (125.7 prf) store pick today. ($69.99). Mildly regretting that, but not too much.

Nostalgia incoming.

The actual barrel from the original donkey juice single barrel pick. It has finally come home to it's final resting place!

Remember the Scrub Donkey!
I’m assuming Spencer got that back from Noble and it’s now in your possession. I’m glad someone from the group got to keep it. I had a fantastic time participating in that pick! Between Todd drunk texting the group from the bathroom floor at the hotel to @Poker Zombie and @Mrs Poker Zombie teaching us Scarney, it was a fun filled weekend!

I still have one more unopened bottle :cool

P.S. Half my group loves Scarney now and the other half hates my guts for introducing it to the group:ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

Yes, the barrel is finished aging beer finally. All I remember is that Scarney = empty wallet! :ROFLMAO:

So jealous that people still have some donkey juice! Mine went pretty fast. I do still have my unopened sample bottle we filled the day we picked it. That will be a special occasion dram for sure.

Definitely need to do a PCF whiskey crew meetup next year at Stranahan's Snowflake release. Tent/RV poker with Elmer, ER12, and more yum. Up 100, then down 100, then won 80 back. Fun night, now can't see straight. 3 bottles of Snowflake waiting for everyone in the am. I'm post some pics of the sauce. Cheers!🥃 🤪

The countdown is on: https://top20.whiskyadvocate.com/

EDIT: Seems like a good excuse to ask everyone what their personal top whiskys of the year were.
I’ve only had 1 bottle from that list (#10) and it just so happens to be my top whisky of the year. Might be top 3 all time for me.

My number two and three were both 2025 special releases from Islay as well…

1. PC 18yr Batch 2
2. Laphroaig Cairdeas Lore Cask Strength
3. Ardbeg Eureka

These two caught my interest the other day at my local bottle shop. Especially the one with the big mark down. I'm doing some research to try and figure out what I'm looking at. I've gathered that Signatory is an independent bottler and that Caol Ila is the distiller, and is located in Islay. As Islay scotches go, I understand that Caol Ila is on the lighter side of the peat scale.

Since these are store picks, I'm unable to find any specific reviews, and it's unlikely any of you have tried this. Unless you're in Texas where most Spec's stores are located. But based on knowledge of Caol Ila and Signatory, anyone have an opinion on whether this is likely to be a good scotch? And a good value at $95?

Also, if this was distilled in 2008, and aged 11 years, does that mean it has been sitting around for 6 years? Maybe that tells me that whomever bought other bottles of it didn't care for it enough to come back for another one, so maybe I should pass too?

I can’t speak for that one. But I have a similar Caol Ila that is a 15yr and I love it.
