Do you typically like Amarone? That pressed raisin vibe isn’t my thing so the 100/100 would be lost on me. Agree that JS is over complimentary of most wines. Suppose that’s a partial by product of rating so many.

I see these wines a fair amount on here, and you-all seem to love them. Do these pinots have the more classic CA full, round fairly big fruit, or tend to the lighter side like OR pinots?

Tried Caterwaul a couple years ago when visiting Switchback ridge in Napa, it is a great wine, but the prices keep going up, cabs are getting so expensive.

Finally last delivery of the year.
Last night was a designated chicken thigh night, a la Provencal, and I felt like a Sancerre. So off to the wine refrigerator in the garage, and found a nice looking bottle -- a 2020, which is respectable for quality Sancerres. But as I lifted it, underneath was another Sancerre -- a 2014 L'apogee! Now, ten+ years in our refrigerator is pushing it for almost all whites, but this bottle was spectacular, lasting well over three hours without any deterioration from supper to our nightly lounge by the lanai firepit watching the stars and the neighbors.
Sancerres are our very favorite white wines, and this one was as good as they come. With a lot of aged wine hanging around, it's nice to have such a pleasant surprise!

)I used to love Mer Soleil’s unoaked Chardonnay - came in a grey, ceramic bottle.
Based on this thread I got on the W-S mailing list and was able to purchase a selection of 2023 wines. They are waiting for me at my Christmas destination. Very curious how it will play out!

Yes indeed
Tried these over Christmas. 50% winners, including the unoaked white. Very nice Pinots, much lighter bodied than most CA Pinots I’ve tried which is what I prefer. That said, not all for my pallete, and the price point is crazy high. I’m not convinced you can’t get this quality for 50% of the price.
