Dinner Plans? (9 Viewers)

My only issue with Perry's has nothing to do with Perry's. It has to do with my former lieutenant.

The pork (at my local Perry's at least) is finished in a smoker. They built the smoker literally 3' from the smoke detector. While it was vented out the roof, every time they opened the door to the smoker, it would set off the alarm, and as firefighters, we would come a runnin'.

After about the 4-5th time, the manager offered us $100 gift certificates to each of the responders. My Lt said "no, we're just doing our job" - which we were, but c'mon, It's a good meal, and they would still turn a profit after a dinner for 2 with alcohol.

Still want to go there, but $$$$$ puts it out of my "fun night" range - but it does look spectacular.

spent a last-minute(ish) long weekend in chicago. bummed, but not surprised, that oriole had no seatings available, but nearly pulled a hamstring jumping off the couch when i got an email saying a table opened up. booked it immediately and had one of the best (if not the best) meal and experiences on saturday night. i'm going to be dreaming about the carrot cake for a long, long time.

What is this? A 74-course meal? How much did this experience set you back (if you don't mind me asking)?

pics from friday night at indienne. we both opted for the vegetarian menu. absolutely insane flavors. the unanimous (n=2 lol) favorite bite of the night was the "black dairy dal" that accompanied the paneer kofta.

i'll try to take pics of the scrambled eggs, bacon, and tater tots we're having for dinner tonight.

This year, PZ and I decided to do a themed Thanksgiving.... introducing our Italian meal (spread throughout the day).

We started with calamari in a spicy breading with a home-made tomato sauce.

Next up, chick pea soup with my Italian rolls.

The turkey was grilled (after being stuffed with lemon and onion and herbs).

Sides featured two gravies (one from the turkey drippings and giblets and one that started in a jar but has then herbed up), wine, cranberry jelly, fennel, second appearance of the Italian rolls, gnocchi (from scratch) in a rosemary butter sauce, and mushroom and sausage risotto.

Wrapped it up with apple pie. This year's crust was my best (due to freezing and then grating the butter into the crust). Served with Limoncello and gelato (with a lemon zest addition).

Needless to say, we were stuffed and have food for days! :cool

Now time to sear it. So out to the Webber kettle we go.
