What video games are you playing? (15 Viewers)

That reminds me of the Drew Carey episode where Drew's new boss has a little black book and said boss tells Drew, "You just made my crap list!"

In the Warhammer universe the Dwarves maintain a Book of Grudges, in which they record every slight and offense committed against them, every wrong that must be righted.

In the context of the game, you earn points by attacking enemy settlements and armies that award you a grudge score. Each Age of Reckoning lasts 15 turns and you as you complete more of your Grudges you will gain bonuses the next 15 turns after that while you work to complete more grudges. So it keeps you moving, attacking, expanding.

But if you don't complete enough grudges, then you suffer from penalties in the next Age.

It's a pretty neat mechanic, although it makes playing tall vs wide less desireable, which kinda sucks because Dwarven armies are pretty defensive-minded. Strong front lines that hold backed up with powerful artillery, crossbows and gunners that dish out a lot of punishment.

I bought my son a Retroid Pocket Flip 2 for his bday. Partly so I found judge if I wanted to get myself something similar. Took about 2-3 hours to set it all up not including time spent on downloading, unzipping, recompressing ISOs, and moving the games from PC to SD card.

But I'm not gonna lie... It's pretty awesome.

Fifa (now ea fc) and NBA 2k for like 25 years now. The hours spent on these and poker...

Bought Dave the Diver this weekend and it's just wonderful. Lighthearted, funny writing and cutscenes, and satisfying gameplay progression.

Played the free BF6 weekend. It didn't seem as fun as the beta for some reason, not quite sure what changed. I know that I prefer to play large conquest maps, but it kept forcing me to play through other game modes like Escalation and Breakthrough in the rotation.

And it seemed like there were only 3-4 maps available, and it didn't have a map I remembered playing in the beta. It was ok, I held my own pretty well, but didn't seem to capture the awe that the beta did for me and I'm still not a fan of the aircraft compared to how they handled back in the BF3/4 days.

Anyone play Arc Raiders? I've been getting some videos recommended on Youtube and finding some pretty funny clips being shared. Looks like it could be fun, although I'm not a fan of hunting through tons of loot containers while someone can shoot you in the back, seems cumbersome.

And I'm not sure if I'll enjoy a 3rd-person shooter, was always a 1st-person player.

Just picked up Outer Worlds 2. I never played the first one, but in general I like this genre.

I've played about 20 hrs so far and have found it to be really good. I'm the completionist type so I'm still in the first zone.

I might pick up Avowed as well, given it was discounted on Steam last time I looked at it. Before all this, the last Obsidian game I played was New Vegas.

I bit the bullet and got Arc Raiders, it's only $39.99 which I felt was amazing considering the price of most new games these days, plus the popularity of this title.

So far I'm having fun. I've focused on trying to login more in daytime hours on North American servers and turned off crossplay to avoid the console crowd who can be more toxic.

My first match I metup with two other solo players and we were all teamed up and got wiped by Arcs (robots that took over the surface of the planet) so was definitely a learning experience to see how effective the AI can be in taking you down.

My subsequent matches have gone better. I'm new to 3rd-person extraction shooters, but having fun. Everyone I've met has been chill so far and I'm avoiding playing later hours when the younger more toxic crowd is prone to show up.

I've helped people out and they've helped me out. Proximity chat is amazing. When you're near someone they can hear you speak on your mic.

I had one guy I told it was my first day playing gift me a bunch of loot that he said is harder to come by but will be needed for some upgrades.

I had another guy show up singing and stand by me while we waited for the extraction elevator to arrive.

Only thing now is to learn the maps and all the different items. Definitely a TON of inventory clutter and some items that may look like you can recycle them for materials or sell them off are actually necessary for upgrades later, so trying to do my research before I get rid of anything (you will often run out of space in-game when you're looting and have to extract or drop stuff for better stuff you find, and even when you get back your base stash is limited (although can be upgraded at cost)

Either way, so far I'm enjoying it. I'm playing on a newer Ryzen 9900x 12-core (better for productivity than gaming, but still solid) and an older 8GB Nvidia RTX 3070 card that's getting long in the tooth. And I'm on widescreen 3440x1440p resolution, regularly hitting 85-95 FPS so it's been a solid experience.

Just bought Arc Raiders last night, haven't tried it yet. My oldest son bought it with his birthday money. I told him if he bought it, I would buy it so we could play. Hopefully it's a nice break from COD.

I was really into MWZ (MW3 Zombies) which was my first extraction shooter. IMO, best thing to come out of the COD in many years.

Also playing COD BO7. So far, more of the same lol. End Game looks fun for open world. Somewhat comparable to MWZ. I played it for 30 min. Need to put more time into it.

I finished Metroid Prime 4. The game is getting a lot of hate it seems, but it's a very solid game. It's for sure not the best in the prime series, probably the weakest honestly. But it's still a solid 7.5 or 8 out of 10. IMO the last full area of the game is awful outside of the boss. That's probably my biggest complaint. I think driving in the desert is kinda of zen. Could it have just not been there? Yeah, for sure. But I kinda liked just driving around crashing into things.

I think people get their hopes way too high when they think of how long a game has been in development. Time to make rarely correlates to how good a game ends up. I think the original prime only took 2 years. And outside of dated controls, that game still holds up as better than most things made today.

Been playing the Heretic and Hexen since they released versions for modern PCs. So much fun. Never finished Hexen Deathkings back in the day so it's nice to finally beat it.

Started Clair Obscur. Not my typical game but I've played FFX and the fact it's turned based is dope. Looking forward to playing it.

I’ve been enjoying Clair Obscur (when I can find time!) and am very impressed with the pacing. Just when I think “this is impossible, how do I survive this?”, there’s another path to take for a while or I need to re-arrange my attack strategy.
I don’t find that I’m able to parry as well as I like, so I dodge the vast majority of the time. It hasn’t been a major problem, though.

I just started playing this yesterday, and within meeting up with Miles I already wanted to shoot him. That would have been a nice option....

Interesting that they created new episodes for these. I'll probably pick it up when it goes on sale. Too bad they didn't include Hexen II. Probably because it was on the Quake engine. Plus reviews are mediocre.

Played a few rounds of Arc Raiders with my son over the weekend. Interesting game, I'll have to watch some youtube videos on the progression. We just went in and gathered items, extracted when full. Repeat. I was also pretty shocked that we ran into a few other groups and nobody opened fire on us. Seems like people are friendly and willing to help, which seems to be the opposite of COD players. It seems to favor stealth play vs. trying to destroy everything.

I noticed Hexen II was not present. With a PC it should be easy to play in UZDoom probably.

Parrying isn't mandatory, but it certainly makes fights easier and quicker. It's also one of the best ways to build the enemy break meter. On my 2nd time through (fresh game, not ng+), I defeated a tough early prismatic enemy you can find in the world by going solo fire/parry Maelle. I found once I had practiced some for each enemy, it became much easier.

Anyone playing Arc Raiders?

Been playing about a week now. I turned off crossplay (heard console players tend to be more toxic) and filter to north american servers

Plus play mostly daytime hours

In 100 matches I only had 2 rats kill me, everyone else was chill or helpful

PAst couple of days were bad with more campers. Had one douche camping a locked door you need a special key to open

I went in, he came in behind me while I was looting and killed me

But overall people have been really cool. I've had people give me loot, I've given other players blueprints I had duplicates of, etc

I'm assuming it's because kids are on vacation for the holidays. But playing ARC Raiders I've noticed a lot more sneaky Rats in my games.

Two matches had guys trying to snipe me from far away, luckily they both sucked and couldn't hit me, but still irritating.

Then had a match where I had called the Elevator to leave the map and noticed a player running from another one who was shooting him. There was also a nearby Hornet that got aggro'd.

The guy came running up and said HELP! on his mic and I took out the hornet and told him I was friendly and said "I got you dude" and asked if another player was shooting at him, but he didn't respond to that.

Not too long after another player shows up but doesn't talk on mics, but everyone is being chill. We get into the elevator when it opens and then the guy I helped starts shooting me, but luckily the elevator completed before he could down me.

And then my last match of the day I called an elevator on DAM Battlegrounds (kinda the newbie map since it's the only one you start with) and ran to a nearby building to hunker down and wait.

I notice a player on the left rear of the building looting something and call out I'm friendly. He jumps up and looks at me, but says nothing (that's usually the first clue)

Eventually as he's coming closer to the building I'm in and he announces "friendly" and comes inside, but he's got his gun out. Now, there's multiple Hornets and Wasps outside plus a Rockateer not too far away as well. But this jackhole sees I don't have my gun out and just starts blasting me.

Luckily I managed to get away and hit him with a few stun grenades. Not sure why he'd start a gunfight when there's so many enemies nearby that could take him out too, but either way was pretty frustrating to see so many hostiles popping off so close to the holidays.

So from now on if someone doesn't respond verbally I'm going to assume they're hostile. And I'm going to keep my gun out from now on so they can't get the jump on me.

But I'm still planning to play friendly and helpful overall and not let their scumbaggery ruin the good vibes I've mostly encountered.

I hardly have enough time to game with two kids under 6. But Wife got me a PS5 for Christmas and I picked up Ghosts of Tsushima. About 10 hours in and OMG such a fun game! I know I'll be playing this one for months lol.

If anyone is playing Arc Raiders and needs these blueprints let me know, I have duplicates to share:

Explosive Mine
IL Toro
Jolt Mine
Remote Raider Flare
Stable Stock II
