Gold Spot too (it says it on the label though, that it has apple flavor)
I get apple notes in all the spots, they're just a little different. Green apple in green and gold and a hint in the blue (though it might be more the tropical/kiwi influence), and more of an older apple orchard note in yellow and red.

2024 Larceny BP Flight

20250301_185947.jpg

So, I'll start this off by saying I'm not expecting to do well on this one lol. 2 of the 3 bottles are very recent cork pops, and in my experience, Larceny benefits tremendously from some bottle head space and I should wait a bit. But I'm impatient so let's do this.......

#1
Nose: Proofy up front, sweet vanilla, molasses, bit of cola, and some oak.

Palate: aggressive, charred oak, black pepper, burnt brown sugar, and maybe some baking spices. Viscous mouthfeel. Smooths out as it sips, more of the caramel comes through.

Finish: long - dry oak, barrel char, burnt brown sugar.

7.9 / 10

#2
Nose: Dark brown sugar, stone fruit, chocolate, hint of cola. Wonderul nose.

Palate: dark brown sugar, barrel charred oak, very subtle dark red fruit, and a bit of pepper and cinnamon (and maybe some mexican chocolate). Not as oily, viscous or punchy as the first, but very rich and flavorful, and a nice mix of sweet and spicy.

Finish: medium caramel and dry oak. Falls a little flat, with a better finish this would be fantastic.

8.5 / 10

#3
Nose: Bright and nutty sweetness, vanilla and almond.

Palate: the sweetest of the 3, honey, vanilla and caramel, cola, spicy oak and some baking spices. Very thick, viscous, coating mouthfeel.

Finish: long oaky, caramel with a tingly spicy finish that lasts forever.

8.4 / 10

Rankings:
Nose: 2>>3>1
Palate: 2>3>1
Finish: 3>1>2

2 and 3 are very close! Good for different reasons

My guess:
1 - A
2 - B
3 - C

The reveal:

Guess:
1 - A
2 - B
3 - C

Actual:
1 - C
2 - B
3 - A

Swapped A and C, which looking back on my notes, I'm an idiot. I really enjoyed the A batch this year, the almond note I got should have been more telling.

All of the '24 releases were pretty solid last year, but none can challenge the champ....

The blue and yellow spots have spiked considerably in price in my area. 3x at least. Anyone know why?
Wow, no idea. I just picked up a backup Blue Spot for $130, which is the cheapest I've ever seen it around here.

Possibly an upcoming st Paddy's day markup?
