You all are in a great position. Trade Darnold away for some decent draft capital, maybe trade for Myles Garrett. As long as McCarthy pans out you might be the team to beat in the NFC
I’m certain Darnold will leave and do a decent job with a starting QB’s salary elsewhere. Our Coach of the Year does indeed still need to fully prove himself. Good guy and a players coach but is still looking a little young at times. I think he’ll be fine. It’s our first rounders team now. Let’s go!

It’s great when you can offend two fan bases at the same time.

Classless Montreal fans up to their old shenanigans again booing the American national anthem again. It didn’t end well for them again as team USA slapped team Canada around a little to start the game and then gave them a physical beating as well as beating them 3-1 in the game. Who can forget the outstanding fans in Boston giving the Canadian national anthem a standing ovation in response to Montreal fans pulling that shit a few years back.

At risk of pulling this into the Politics thread, they’re not boo-ing the anthem or Americans per se, rather they’re booing current shifts in American foreign policy, specifically as it relates to Canada. The booing yesterday would have happened in any Canadian city, of that you can be sure.

Rhetoric or not, having another nation threaten your sovereignty generally doesn’t go over well.

That said, the vast majority of Canadians have nothing but love for their American neighbours, even if their team does win the occasional meaningless hockey game against us. :cool

Sorry for the rant, eh.

meaningless
Not meaningless. It guaranteed the US a spot in the finals while it put Canada on the brink, needing a win against Sweden to avoid elimination.

Would it have been meaningless if Canada won? That would have put them at the top of the standings, ahead of the US.

Not meaningless. Maybe the most anticipated game on the continent in some time.

Yeah, you're right. In the context of this mini-tournament, definitely an important win for Team U.S.A. No doubt about it.

My comment was certainly a bit tongue in cheek, but I do think, in the grand scheme of things, that not many are going to care about or remember who won the 4 Nations Face-off 20 years from now.

That said, I will admit that the quality of the games has been great so far and it does seem like it's meaningful to the players. I'm personally not a fan of the format, but it's nice to see best on best again after far too many years without it. That said, I really couldn't care which team wins it. If anything, hopefully this serves as a wake up call for Hockey Canada that they need to stop trying to be the smartest people in the room when it comes to roster construction.

Now, the Olympics next year? I'll be all in on that one.

What about Russia?
#ritz
They'd have a pretty decent team. Strong forward group. Next to the U.S.A. would there be a team with stronger goaltending? Iffy defense, but certainly not terrible.

Politics aside, it's a bit of a shame that we'll never get to see the likes of Ovechkin and Malkin in a best-on-best tournament again.

Agreed on the Russians.

Politics aside, it's also a shame that Canadians boo the US National Anthem because they don't like Trump or his foreign policy.

I don’t think Mahomes will get even five rings, let alone seven.
I think Mahomes ends with five. Josh Allen is the new Philip Rivers. Burrow will never take the kind of pay cut/contract adjustment to surround himself with the right players. And the Lions are, well… the Lions.

I think Daniels or Love win a Super Bowl before Burrow, Allen, or the Lions.

Why only 6’ point favorites at home on Sunday ? Michigan is reeling off 2 straight losses and shoujd be primed to get blown out . Trap game ?

Don't let back-to-back losses fool you, Michigan is good. That game was shaping up to be the showdown for the Conference title.

We’re at a club volleyball tournament today, playing in a random Iowa high school. Not a big town. But the gym has a freaking Jumbotron! Holy balls. That’s some serious swag for a high school gym.
