Do you have a specific dial colour you are looking for? How about general watch size or strap material? Is the no sub dials/date criteria firm?
It doesn't seem like branding is too important so I suggest a Geckota Pioneer.

There are no hard and fast rules but I generally prefer a clean looking watch face. I don't have any specific dial color preference.

I don't care what brand it is and just want something that looks good and feels good. I prefer something with discreet branding an not a massive brand name scrawled across the face.

I am not sure on watch size. With regards to strap material I am open minded but generally don't want that big metal clunky look of Tag Heuer. I am fine with a metal strap but just not too clunky.

How about a smartwatch? For example Garmin has a bunch of neet ones. They are really handy! Plus you can switch watch faces whenever you get bored.

I have no interest in smart watches. I am looking for something more classic and timeless: wood/leather/metal build materials.

I was at Nordstroms around the holidays waiting for my daughter to pick out some stuff in the makeup area. The watch section was close so I was checking them out just to pass some time. They had a Gucci at around $1000. The cheapest Rolex I think is many times that.

Buy a cheap Casio digital watch for <$30, it tells time every bit as good as most $1k watches. Take the money you saved and do a Vegas trip. Win, win!

I am going to buy a Patek when I hit it big in Vegas or nail one of my MMA parlays. The ultimate flex piece IMO.
Some pieces you have to apply to buy. Others they invite you to buy only. I only like the backs of their watches. Patek fronts are too understated for me below 300k.

Patek Wow now that is a fancy watch. What color Ferrari to go with it? Red is good but I really like yellow also. Match the watch to the super car maybe?

“This would be my daily driver as I don't plan to build a collection, so it would be my one singular timepiece”

you’re screwed!

1k ish daily driver with enough pizzaz…. Check out Tag Heuer.

I love mine, but I prefer a douchier look of a big timepiece if I’m showing off (Breitling)

I’m still looking for a Rolex, but my daily is an Apple Watch.

That reminds me. The fanciest watch not being a sports tracking smartwatch type was a Citizen I got as a wedding gift. I was in Vegas and caught it on something on the railing of the stairwell and snapped the band and I listened to it bounce its way down to the bottom. Must have been 8 or 10 floors up. It did not handle the fall well. Sent it in to have it fixed and it would cost more to repair it than to buy a new one.

I wonder if you had a watch you saw that caught your eye? Since the watch industries have such a wide array of designs, I'm curious if you had some examples of what you might like. I'm gonna throw in two pictures from Orient.

These are both really nice but IMO the faces are both a bit too busy. Lose the date counter and whatever the other stuff is.

Hamiltons are awesome for the price. I own a pan europ as my daily and it keeps time better than any watch I’ve owned. It has 72h reserve which is more than enough for me. I’m looking at a khaki now since I never wear my blancpain
