Hey all!

New to the forum and this is my first post, so please be gentle. :D

I am looking to assemble a custom CPC set for a .50/$1 cash game. I am an old regular at Treasure Island (back when they had a room) and I loved the Tangerine Mixer, so that's part of what's influencing the color choices here. Also, I am a Michigan fan, so that explains the blue and yellow. :D Here is what I am thinking for colors:

.25 - Grey
$1 - White
$5 - Orange
$25 - Green
$100 - Black

I am contemplating changing the $25 Light Green spot with something like Dayglo Pink. Let me know what you think on the colors. I plan on ordering some samples this week.

Also, I am working on a couple of ideas for the inlay and will likely need design assistance. Feel free to reach out to me if you're interested in helping. I will certainly pay you for your time and work.

Thank you for taking a look and thanks for having me!

Welcome to the forum!
Good start, I would suggest trying to vary the spot colors more. You have a lot of repeat colors. I would also go for brighter base colors like bright white and dg tiger or arc yellow for the $5.
Dg pink on the $25? Hell yeah!

Really like the black, green, and white. Not crazy about the grey or the orange. I'm a chip noob but it seems you have a very traditional base color palette outside of the orange, which is coincidentally a combo of Cali yellow and Vegas red. But order what makes you happy!

Second the order a color sample post, the samples I have don't exactly match what I can see on the monitor.

I really appreciate everyone's feedback. I know the set kind of toes the line between standard and non-standard. I just really like the idea of infusing orange into the set with a nod to the old mixed game I loved. I will work on it and post what I come up with. I really do appreciate hearing from everyone and thank you for the warm welcome.

BTW, I definitely plan on getting some color samples. I have read here that the colors are definitely different in person than what you see on the website or these forums.

Changed the $1 to Bright White and the $5 to Dayglo Arc Yellow. I also changed the Light Green to Dayglo Pink on the $25.

I definitely like how all of these changes look. I would even say the $5 is even more tangerine-y. Again, I will be getting some samples but I definitely like how it's coming together thus far.

I will keep messing with it. Please hit me up with any other suggestions. Also, anyone who's looking for a design gig, please feel free to reach out.

Grey is my fav color, I don't think I would use it in this line up, and / or at least this close to the white 1.

I would also ask if you have considered the far superior Cali colors as to the dull, drab, and over used Nevada colors? Okay so maybe I'm bias =D.

Grey frac, with a blue 1, keep the orange 5 (could go yellow), black 20 or purple 25, and then a White 100 color wheel.

Thank you for the pics, chipinla. I really like the looks of that Dayglo Peach. I will mock it up and take a look, but those look great!

I’m with DeusEx, I’d change either the frac or 1. The gray and white are really similar that close in the breakdown. Spots on the 5 might need some consideration as the canary and dg peach will blend in with the base color

Here's a quick revision 3. Give me your thoughts. Not sure I love the shade of blue for the $1. I have ordered samples and don't plan on moving forward with an order until I see those. I am going to modify this as time permits today. :D

Just a refresher:

Grey - Frac / .25
Blue - $1
Orange - $5
Green - $25
Black - $100

I am also working on a couple of design ideas. Still just a placeholder until I get those worked up.

There are different standards for chip colors, and you don't have to follow them, but I would consider throwing the green chip in the trash, is awful in this set.

Personally, I would change the colors or the edge marks on the black chip as well.

Sorry was that too honest?

You can get away with black in this set as the 100

Standard Nevada colors:
1 White
5 Red
20 -
25 Green
100 Black

Standard Cali colors:
1 blue
5 Yellow (Orange)
20 Black
25 Purple
100 White

I appreciate the honestly here. Thank you. Im going to keep working on it and I’ll post updates. It’s a bit odd because there’s definitely some standard stuff, but also it’s a bit non-standard as well. I appreciate your input!

You can do a yellow $20 instead of a green $25. Do you have alternatives for Grey frac?
I haven't thought about alternatives for the grey frac. I am definitely open to suggestions. I will probably work on a new $25 today and post what I come up with.

Also, I ordered samples from CPC and it they are expected to be here on Tuesday. I am looking forward to getting my hands on them.

So I got the samples in from CPC and yeah.. I feel like I am going to revamp a couple of things. I will work up some of the ideas I have and post them here at some point today. :D

If you go brighter I would suggest
Switching from orange to DG peach as the base on your $5… I just got a cpc set with that and it’s incredible in person. I did get orange inserts on my frac. Here are pics of both to give you a better real life idea.

After getting the samples in my hand, I have to agree with you here. I really like the Dayglo Peach for the $5.

So I have been checking out the samples and somewhat revamped the design. I like how dark the "Charcoal" is and feel it's a good replacement for the $25 Black. Please feel free to tear this apart. :D

Also, I am toying with the idea of different molds. I like the "Scroll" mold with the smaller inlay for the fractional / Dayglo Pink.

I have also considered removing the spot from the Dayglo Pink fractional. *shrug*

I love a pink Quarter. I'd keep the spot.

The only thing I would consider changing is that you have yellow as a spot color in all chips, except the quarter. I'd try to break it up with a different spot color, maybe on the $5?

Dg pink on the $25? Hell yeah!
Also, I love repeat colors if it’s intentional. I did that on a set so it flowed. I also have an upcoming set to mimic a similar concept.

You might want to reconsider mixing molds in the same set. They have slightly different diameters and would look and play strangely when used together. Additionally, those two molds would probabaly not be running at the same time so there could be a many month delay between getting one part of the set and waiting for the remainder.

I'm liking the charcoal base on the last chip. I think it works better with the rest of the set with their lighter base colors.

I like the charcoal switchout and definitely a fan of the bright white with most anything.

I’m pretty sure this wouldn’t even be allowed unless you met the quantity requirement for the frac with scroll. Or you’d have to find someone with a scroll order willing to let you add on to their order.
Scratch this idea IMO.
And I love DG peach but I would go bright on the edge spots as well. Maybe 414 instead of 314? Just a suggestion

If it hasn't been said, and I'll be shocked if it hasn't. Get a sample color set. @Sprouty may have one that he could lend you.

What mold are you contemplating? My sunsets are on the FDL mold. I have a few sample sets of different molds that you could check out. My favorite mold is "B". It can be tough to get a design on it. There are a bunch of great molds. FDL is not my favorite mold by any means. It worked best with my theme/design.

I have a B mold order in! Can’t wait

Good to know. I was thinking of mixing them up but didn't realize it would be an issue. I definitely wouldn't be buying a large enough quantity to do it on my own. Good suggestions, btw. The only reason I liked three spots over four is that I was kind of going for a spot progression with the chips. As the denominations got larger, I was adding more spots.
