Whats your favorite coffee? (2 Viewers)

Whatever instant that is on offer. Will always get the most expensive offer available though so still getting better quality.

Death wish has an instant packet. I'm tempted to try it. But I'm also VERY pleased with the fresh Ben's we ground tonight. Absolutely delicious. May never go back to regular ground coffee again

Does anybody have a recommendation for a hot coffee + alcohol/liqueur mix? (Don't mind adding milk since I do that anyway, preferably low cal) But I'm thinking... might be a delicious hot treat when coming out of the tree stand frozen!

If you want something that thaws you really fast, try Jagatee. Austrian specialty. Simplified: black tea with spices, sugar and rum.
You can buy it a s a concentrate to mix with water.

Irish coffee. :)

Is it coffee or dessert?

A whole brew of cuban espresso poured over vanilla ice cream.

A Cuban Affogato. Sounds incredible!
Exactly. We usually also make it in those clear coffee cups, but needs must, so in a pinch a bowl works.
I was just having a cuban coffee and my wife wanted something sweet after dinner and this is one of her favorites and quick to make on the spot.

I gotta confess: I grew up on institutional/deli/diner coffee—and so much prefer bland, plain coffee.

I sink as low as Maxwell House and the like, but I don’t want my coffee to have a bite, and definitely not a flavor.

A likeminded friend used to say: “Coffee already has a flavor. Its flavor is COFFEE.”

All that said: I actually have trouble nowadays finding a basic coffee. My local supermarkets’ shelves are packed with brands with... aspirations. I usually just wind up buying the store brand’s medium roast or “breakfast blend.”

I don’t go for crap Folgers and the like, but I don’t want my coffee to have a bite, and definitely not a flavor.

In some ways I think with tea it's easier. You can just get 'english breakfast tea' and it's gonna be pretty much the same. Or if you are like a Barry's or Twinings it's just going to be exactly what you'd expect.

Coffee it's just like 'just coffee please' sometimes.

@Taghkanic
For regular "American coffee" as opposed to espresso or espresso-based drinks (cappuchino, etc) that's my daily driver, so to speak.
I don't like flavors in coffee (maybe 0.5% of the time some vanilla is ok).

I find two things make a big difference......fresh grind and fresh brewed. A fresh grind improves the store bought stuff a lot. Letting is sit after making or heating it up in a microwave is justification for prosecution. After that, the beans make a difference, but I don't stress out over the blend too much. I like most of them if they are ground and brewed fresh.

This came immediately to mind.

I just read this article on the fallacy of oily beans. Not sure if this is gospel but they say that when a roast is taken past a certain point (maybe medium roast or something) the “good stuff” (oil) from inside the bean comes out due to a chemical reaction etc. This will happen over time regardless of the roast. Also the longer beans sit the oiler they get generally.
