Official Fit Competition (Sept 7 - Nov 30) (5 Viewers)

This week: I've scheduled four running windows for this week, and my goal is to use at least three of them.

Just a suggestion - force yourself to hit the first two of the four...then pick one of the last two. At least for me...it helps to start off "ahead"!

Awesome that you survived Minnemania flat though...many others would not have I'm sure!!

Actually it was 12 oz curls and official casino weight vertical presses:

I'm not in the competition but here's my progress/story since I hit a milestone today.

In 2011 I joined the military at the age of 25 and a weight of 145. After 8 weeks I gained 20 lbs which was probably muscle. Over the course of the next 8 years (4 of those I was married) I gained almost another 25 lbs because I was living in Germany where they love their bread and carbs and California where some of the best tacos are made. From Nov 2015-Dec 2019 I was out of state or country for almost 365 cumulative days so there was a lot of eating out.

I got to my new base in early June and this morning I weighed myself and I'm officially back to the weight I was when I got out of basic training which was 165lbs for a weight loss of 23lbs over the course of almost 18 weeks (avg ~1.25lbs/week). During our in-processing we were told to write down a goal we wanted to achieve during our 12 months here. This is what I wrote:

My ultimate goal is 155 by Christmas and I'm pretty confident that I'll make it.

Congrats on your progress!

Sep 30th means exactly two months left. I’m down more than I expected (-14.6 and counting) and the end goal of 31.2 total lb (205) seems really achievable. Clothes are fitting so much better already. And, at this pace I might even hit 200 which I haven’t been at since 2011.

woohoo!

Keep it up. My biggest motivation is actually seeing the pounds come off every week and knowing what I'm doing is actually working makes me want to stick to the routine

Rolled into yesterday doing well and on a much better eating path. Work hit me with birthday parties and clients came in with lots of delicacies and alcohol. If I were on keto I would say I was just revving back up my glycogen levels but this wasn’t that. Felt extremely guilty this morning even though I gained less than half a pound. For now I’ll call it blowing off steam but back on the better foods today. Gotta work on this eating as a reward thing.

I hope everyone else is killing it!

No Broccoli in all its forms is not a treat. I grill a cauliflower that I find very rewarding though. This was more weakness. I could call it peer pressure or client pressure but I could have taken stuff and not eaten it.

Once the homemade Armenian food came out I willingly raised the white flag. Plus all the new grape varietals (sno cone and cotton candy) and tree fruit...I didn’t eat anything that I regret eating. Just the quantity.

Screw the challenge...I want to work where you work!

Let’s shoot for a lean 190 then bro

It was an unusual week but an amazing week for a couple clients and all the celebrations hit all at once. The Central Valley in California is the breadbasket for America and at least all our clients come with large families with folks that cook incredibly when I’ve had the opportunity.

The one thing that saves me out here is I don’t like the California Mexican food. I have a New Mexico green chile bias and a Tex Mex slant so I don’t ever indulge out here.

Prob around 600-700/ hr, so that’s be close to 2000
So when I worked on the horse farm I handled all the turn in/turn out and cleaning stalls which equated to burning roughly 3000 calories a day just working. Needless to say I could eat like crap every single meal and lose weight, man I miss those days lol

That’s a great calorie burn! Is it scenic?

Every week day except Friday I do a walk in my neighborhood. 3 miles, about 450 calories burned.

Friday mornings I take off and do a hike at some rocky stuff near my house.

Saturday and Sunday I do this:

I wish I had the ability to vary it up like this! Nice!

The neighborhood stuff is... boring. I only do it because it's something I can do whenever I have a free hour in my day, early morning, afternoon, evening, without having to go anywhere.

Friday mornings for me are never busy work wise so I can always make it out and the park I go to, Great Falls, is notoriously swamped with people, but 7am on a friday I hardly see anymore and it's a good variety.

My Saturday/Sunday spots are almost all wooded with 1 or 2 scenic overlooks and not crowded at all. The trails are active enough they aren't over grown, but spare enough that you don't have to move over for others too often. Part of the trail is used by a nearby horse ranch, so there is some dodging of horse droppings, but not enough to be a real nuisance.

Mainly, I like the variety, 4 days of sidewalks/streets, 2 days of woods, 1 day of rocks. Plus I crush podcasts at 1.5x.

I need to add some core workouts though. Anyone got any good suggestions?
