Not Mine Buyer beware: Paulson Vineyards (1 Viewer)

I wonder why everybody is so certain that it's this simple. When did everybody here become experts in contract law?
One guy assumes the chips are worth $30. The other guy knows the chips are worth over $2,000. You think this is a meeting of the minds?
I agree that here and in poker and in life, a man's word is everything. So personally, I'd never back out of a deal. But when people start tossing around legal terms like "contract" maybe they should focus on the law. And sadly, our ideals ("a deal is a deal!") have nothing to do with the law.
You never took any contract law classes in school?

I did. I wouldn't represent myself as any kind of authority on contract law but I know enough about it to know that this particular issue isn't as simple as people would like it to be.

I am willing to agree there is one lesson here. No matter what chips you found, there are always other PCF lurkers in on it. I'm not saying what the seller did was right, and what the seller did I think warranted the buyer beware thread.

But I am thinking, and maybe this is more from a life strategy standpoint, if you know you are buying something worth way more than the ask, maybe endear yourself to the buyer by making an offer closer to value. It builds rapport with the buyer and protects yourself if the seller suddenly gets other offers from other PCFers.

I know people want to throw the word "community" around, but the bottom line is the demand exceeds the supply for scarce goods. But maybe this is why I am really only in this hobby for the customs, so consider this a view from the outside looking in.

The original buyer may indeed have a legal right to the terms of the original sale, a right which the seller has illegally deprived them of, but I must confess I have at most a modicum of sympathy that they were unable to turn a handsome profit off of the buyer's momentary ignorance.

Good luck to the buyer in seeking redress through small claims court.

Everyone was surprised when they saw you at Craig's online meetup.

@Hornet couldn't have looked more like what I pictured.
Yeah, I didn't know I looked so horrid.....

Yeah, he's like... Yup. That there is him. Aaaaaaannnddd no PLO.

I think this will work best if i cut a deal with @BonScot to design the inlays, pay him, have him later back out of the deal, and just end up with blank chips from the manufacturer.
We have a deal... :ROFLMAO:

and thanks for tagging me in this shambles of a thread. Got up at 5am for a piss, stupidly looked at PCF and now reading 7 pages of brain damage...

I literally have no idea what's going on anymore. Can someone post something in the hot dog roller pr0n thread?

So my IANAL understanding is that a unilateral mistake of value (e.g. one party not knowing the value of an item being bought/sold) is generally not sufficient reason to set aside a contract. So regardless of your opinion on the morality of buying $1000 worth of poker chips for $30, it would likely be considered an enforceable contract if both parties agreed to the sale (and assuming no mistakes of fact).

Source: I spent a few minutes googling, so I'm now a contract lawyer. Rates start at $550/hr.

Just to kick up some dirt after consulting the OP first via text and getting approval (we have worked together before) I decide to pull the trigger and work some magic to grab these. Duh! Anyways He will be rewarded for his efforts digging as it’s the right thing to do. My man selling even insured it and was very pleasant to work with. He understood the point and we reached a very fair deal. He took instructions on packing and sent me pics the whole way. God bless you all and chalk one up for the monkey bunch! Hash tag Vinyards! Guess I won’t be using my ceramics anymore....

And always remember. Pics or or didn’t happen. PEACE.
