Not Mine Buyer beware: Paulson Vineyards (1 Viewer)

Just to kick up some dirt after consulting the OP first via text and getting approval (we have worked together before) I decide to pull the trigger and work some magic to grab these. Duh! Anyways He will be rewarded for his efforts digging as it’s the right thing to do. My man selling even insured it and was very pleasant to work with. He understood the point and we reached a very fair deal. He took instructions on packing and sent me pics the whole way. God bless you all and chalk one up for the monkey bunch! Hash tag Vinyards! Guess I won’t be using my ceramics anymore....

And always remember. Pics or or didn’t happen. PEACE. View attachment 529986
Lmao in less than two months, guy picks up table and everything from Postie for pennies on the dollar, and 5 racks of underpriced Vineyards.

How many folks are doing this :banghead: right now for not reaching out to seller.

edit: I was told about these before they were posted here, lol in fact I'm the one who suggested posting about them :banghead: It's a conundrum, what do you do? Up til now I've always followed the don't ever reach out because someone is certainly doing it and I'll only raise the price. But, if I never reach out, I'll never just magically come to own chips like these. What to do, what to do. Nice pick up.

Lol I used to ride the blue wall a lottttt and JIM IS THE MAN HE HOOKED ME UP AND STARTED MY FIRE AGAIN BUT THIS NIGHTMARE WAS ALL SKILLS! Well that and 2 hours on the phone lol

Glass of wine anyone? School is now in session!!!

You are gonna be shit on both ways, but one of them ends up with the chips.... You just get to pick which pitchfork you are stabbed with after...

Yeah I'm learning. I think I've personally decided if they're Vineyards, Grand Casino, or CPs, I'm going to reach out since those are ones I really want that I won't be able to afford any time soon. Anything else, I'll try and find someone else that really wants em and try to help them get em.

So. You picked this pitchfork eh?

So my IANAL understanding is that a unilateral mistake of value (e.g. one party not knowing the value of an item being bought/sold) is generally not sufficient reason to set aside a contract. So regardless of your opinion on the morality of buying $1000 worth of poker chips for $30, it would likely be considered an enforceable contract if both parties agreed to the sale (and assuming no mistakes of fact).

Source: I spent a few minutes googling, so I'm now a contract lawyer. Rates start at $550/hr.
Heh heh heh. You said I-ANAL.

Barry ever get in a pickle like this again I’ll partner with you and finance it. Most likely I’m a chip keeper but I will flip too if I have my eye on something else. Not buying the Elizabeth horseshoe chips so these will prob stay with me or trade bait eventually. Wanted these a long time. Either way u will be compensated. I have run ads buying chips Locally and always pay a finders fee, if we flip I don’t mind a split.

His name is actually Jeff not Barry.

OP made a big mistake sending funds to a random stranger on the internet. You're lucky you got your money back at all. Don't do that again.

However, random stranger committed a pretty serious ethical breach by posting a thing for sale, accepting payment, and then reneging. Doesn't matter if the thing he's selling is worth $1,000 and he only got $100 or $30 or $1. Buyer and seller agreed on a price, funds were exchanged, and then seller changed his mind too late.

Imagine it in reverse, where the buyer agrees to pay, receives the item, and then refuses to pay. Instead of paying, he tries to use lower offers he's been seeing elsewhere as leverage to get the seller to accept a lower price. And the seller, against his better judgment, agrees to one such lower price, only to have the buyer ultimately say screw it, send it all back, and buy much cheaper from someone else. I'd never have anything to do with that person again, whether it's on the buying or selling end.

Yes, it's Facebook Marketplace, so caveat emptor is the motto of the day, but that still doesn't excuse unethical behavior. A grimy seller is a grimy seller regardless of the forum.

Don't let any of this distract you from the the fact that in 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, Bubba "Spare Tire" Dixon.

Honestly I'm a little baffled myself.

So the 20 or so pcf profit hungry hounds trying to buy low and sell high, who have no qualms about privately messaging a seller to steal a deal out from under the nose of a fellow "community member", are the picture of integrity.

But the guy who found out he had undersold his goods to someone that clearly knew the true value, is now a pariah for refunding the money?

Checks out lol

It's still a shame that I am agreeing with this op lol but oh well

IT IS 2020......................so par for the course

So what if in the original post, the seller said he mailed the chips and the buyer never received it. The seller then refunds the money. Case closed.

Arguement: Seller has no integrity? Would it help if he never mentions the other buyer and just says sorry, I will refund your money? You would never know about his lack of integrity and just think you missed out on a great deal.

I mean...do you really expect someone who doesn't know what they're worth to not look it up and change their mind once they find out the value? Would you be mad if someone posted an oz gold bar for 1978 prices ($210) then backed out over Facebook marketplace when he realized it was worth 2 grand and threw it up on eBay?

I mean, everything he did is what any normal person would do. Nobody shorts themselves thousands of dollars because they made a deal with some random person over facebook marketplace.
speak for yourself. Most people look up an items value BEFORE deciding to sell. If they don’t, well it’s on them. Breaking a deal because you find out after the fact, is still breaking a deal. Next time, I’m sure this guy will use common sense but to me, it’s still a crap move.

OP would never know about his lack of integrity, sure, and this would make it a smarter move on the seller's part.

But it would still demonstrate a clear lack of integrity.

Not related to anything relevant to this discussion though, surely? #KiferMemeingCo
Nothing I do is related to anything... Ever.... I just throw shit on the wall and hope it works out...

Attend SQM and you will find the answer to that. Certain people may be able to answer that question for me :cautious:
I already know you love me Barrie.... And I've actually called you that since swear word one... When we were married.

Wow, that sounds gayer then I was going for....

Throwing shit at the wall and hoping it sticks? There's a meme for that...
