Shortly I'll own two FDL set's :)

I've been studying the molds. The cards and die mold is really growing on me. I hated it initially. Now I catch myself doing mockups on it.

Molds I like: MD50, HHR, H-mold, FDL, CSQ, scroll
Molds I get nauseous looking at: A-mold, B-mold, dice, no-mold, hourglass

That being said, there are many situations that draw me towards certain molds at certain times. I keep trying to find a way to use MD-50, but can't seem to get it done. The thematic considerations are so important. Also, for me, the inlay is the most important part of the chip. This necessitates considering the size of the canvas. Molds that accommodate 1-1/16th and 1 inch inlays hold more favor in my eyes. I simple inlay would be easier for me to put on some of the molds I've always wanted to use.

Interestingly, I don't totally love or hate the smooth inlay on the FDL. It's certainly different.

My top 3 in order
1. MD-50
2. H-mold
3. Scroll

Bottom 3:
2 up from the bottom: no-mold
almost the bottom: hourglass
the pits: dice

I really should. I'm already over the damn budget

Me too. Waaaay over.

Like anybody stays under budget on a custom set!

Phew, was getting worried. Need some advice on how to handle the Mrs. though. Thoughts. (Really needs its own thread!)

For all intents and purposes, we're all just running a tab w/Mr. Spragg that we periodically settle up. There's no budget. There's only a credit limit.

We can buy these things on credit?! I'm adding more chips to my order!

I’ve grown used to the fact that my tastes will change over time. In the beginning, I thought that the Horsehead mold defined ASM chips, and that was the only mold I would ever get from them. Later, after I got some samples of people’s sets, such as Toby’s Black Cat Club, I was blown away by the FDL mold given its grand inlay graphic possibilities. Later, I was drawn back into smaller classic inlays, in the case of MD-50. Then I loved the scroll mold after some color samples from CPC. My interests get stretched all over the place, and I think that’s a lot of fun.

perfectly stated.

BGinGA shares your disdain for the FDL. This came up on the way to your house somewhere before Buzzard Branch

Well, I guess I don't need to thank him for induction votes...

WTF is this word budget you guys are throwing around?

Amen brotha!

Be very very careful. I have been told that CPC will make these chips but...they won't be OFFICIAL CASINO WEIGHT! Buyer beware.
If CPC could figure out a way to slug them, I'd be in for a set of 500 (I already have a sweet aluminum case ready to go).
Maybe David can have the factory add extra brass flakes for a special run. Group buy to get the needed order numbers?

I voted for the MD50 as I just put an order in with CPC for 530 of them.

Really like the no mold and jockey as well. May have gone with one of those (likely the no mold) but production time was much longer on those two.

no contest

1) b diamond
2) a mold
3) c horsehead

strange since horsehead was always my #1 asm mold, didnt think too much of the A mold, then i saw the B Diamond...whoa winner all the way and then the A mold moved up to second and horsehead is last....funny how things change(y)

Oops... voted circle square instead of diamond square. CSQ looks good too though.
