WSOP main event - PokerGo streams (2 Viewers)

He did dance between rain drops in several situations late in the tournament. Down to 1.9 mil (3bb) and two separate hands where he 4 card flushes to stay in. AK vs kk to hit the A on the river. But other than that he was Stu Ungar like performance with constant applied pressure in all the right spots. It has to be the quickest final table in history. 79 hands

that's how you play a final table - no hollywood bullshit, just use your stack. nobody else had a prayer. was fun to watch.

Anybody else getting free pokergo? My account expired 2 mothns ago (and the credit card they have on file is no good anymore) but I was able to watch the whole thing. No complaints here.
I had that for about a year or so till my account got deleted or something

IMHO the current wsop structure is the problem. finals tables arent what they used to be. they are over too quickly as most players arent deep enough to play any poker.
Mmm this is interesting. Is this because players have become much better? They know how to play a 20 big blind stack and force bigger decisions earlier, so that the stacks that are left are shallow?

I don't think the main event has an "over too quickly" problem, its more than a week long. How do you ensure people get to the final 9 with deeper stacks? What structural change? Not interrogating you, just mulling it over.

im not saying the event is too short. im saying the final tables are now over too quickly. structurally something has changed. without looking up the data to confirm but i cant recall a final table in recent memory that has lasted longer that a real days play like they used to when i started watching them from like 2010 onwards. Im sure there is someone more committed than I am and has a better understanding than I do to provide a better analysis.

It feels like they are trying to make final tables more tv friendly. watch the first day in a few hours, and watch the next day in another few hours, to match the duration other sporting events that people are accustomed to watching.

So when I heard the commentators mention dismissive comments on X about Leo Margets, I went snooping to see who it was. I expected it to be Doug Polk or Garrett Adelstein or someone. I definitely wasn't expecting Lon McEachern.
Right? I did the same thing. What a dumbass.

absolute sun run to win the main event. crazy stuff

Mizrachi played like a winner. That's undeniable. I'm happy for him.

Well deserved by The Grinder, he’s a gamblers gambler, willing to test you and put you all in. I miss that Ol school action, putting someone at risk for their tournament life!!

Lon and Norm are fun for nostalgia and all, but I wouldn’t trade Ali and Nick for anything. Their ability to constantly switch back and forth from being absolute clowns to seriously breaking down hands is art.
Nick in front of the camera is awkward and uncomfortable. Nick in the booth is gold.

Nick is the coolest guy in poker. He does occasionally seem awkward when he's put on the spot to discuss his own accomplishments. And also I suspect he's high a lot of the time when he's not in the booth, which could translate to awkwardness.

Grinder‘s run is even crazier than Joe Cada‘s back in 2008.

Disagree. From what I selectively choose to remember Cada got it all in as a 20/80 dog multiple times and always flopped a set.

Grinder applied fearless pressure at the final table and it seemed like everyone else was focused on ICM and laddering up. His river value bet of 60M to KJ top pair was perfect- just enough for Kenny to feel like he could call and lose and still be tied with 2 other stacks when it was 5 handed. Congrats to Grinder.

That Polk video is idiotic. What main event winner didn’t win 10 all ins with those odds to get there. Winning a flip 10 times in a row is normally 1/1024 or <0.1% so 0.14% is actually ahead.

I probably won’t watch it. Doug’s kind of a dick and his “humor” is not for me. But I did watch all of the final table and as much of the Main as I could. Yeah, grinder got lucky. You can’t win the Main or any other tournament without getting lucky. And all those final table all-ins? He was never at risk. That’s important.
They instantly put the guy into the hall of fame - it wasn’t about luck. It was the greatest World Series ever. Fuck Doug.

He was at risk against John’s KK, Grinder had AK for his tournament life. He did manage to spike an Ace on the river, very exciting.

Yeah, the sunglasses on Tuesday were likely hiding a bit of the crimson glare, so to speak.
