I’m getting ready to place an order for 600 Majestic chips with Apache Poker Chips and I’m looking for a way to store them. This will be my first set of nicer chips…everything in the past has been cheap big box store chips in the metal briefcase so I’m at a loss on how I want to store these. Apache has a beautiful mahogany case that holds 750 chips but it’s pricey. I’ve ran a search here, google, and YouTube and can’t find out much about these…that probably tells me all I need to know but I’m still curious. Does anyone have any experience with these cases?

Hey, I've had the case for probably 5 years. Looks good. Good storage for my home game. No issues with anything.

Good to know. One of my concerns was loading it up and it being too heavy and awkward to move around the house for game night. I’ve got it narrowed down to this for looks or the Versa briefcase for something a little sturdier. Thank you for the input.

I don't have any experience with the 750 ct case, but I had a few of the 500 ct cases. Although I'm not sure if the 500 ct cases I had are the exact same case as Apache. But they look the same and the price is also the same as I paid (from a different retailer.).

The ones I had weren't very good. Mass produced from China. They were not made of solid wood. The screws for the hinges eventually failed because they're not biting into actual wood. I gave them away as there's no way I could sell them in good conscience to another chipper knowing the low quality.

So, to be clear, my feedback may or may not be applicable. But if I were in your position, I'd look for something else.

I'd suggest getting a wood case made by @alecnetwoodworks. Super high quality works of art.

I have seen some of his on here in my search of what I want. They are beautiful but I’m afraid would push me down the rabbit hole of wanting a full custom set to store in them…so maybe soon…hahaha

I didn't buy from apache so not q00% sure it's the same. But here are the hinges if it's helpful to u.

Take a look at www.mycasebuilder.com. They can make foam cutouts that fix in just about any case. You make the design with their easy to use software, that works on computer, table or phone. I would recommend using a computer or tablet, as a phone screen may be to small. It was a lot of fun designing and finding my own poker case.

I got the 1,000 count Versa case recently. I’m really impressed by the quality (vs other cheapo aluminum cases I’ve had in the past). Years ago I had a wooden box (mind you this was a bicycle poker chip set box) and between the two I prefer the lighter and more modern looking aluminum.

One thought with the Versa is you’ll need to buy racks for them - so cost wise it’ll be slightly more than just the case.

Last thought is storage - typically the Versa’s are taller and so might not fit in your shelving (I realized this after the fact) - vs if you want a more horizontal storage option.

I prefer the Versa 1000 pc case that doesn’t require racks because I feel like it’s easier to access the chips vs having to unstack racks. I wouldn’t travel with the case although it’s suited for it. I have the versa 500 pc case I travel with if need be. I also have the mahogany case and would definitely not recommend traveling with, it’s nice but I don’t even like moving it around the house.. hope this helps.

Thank you for the input everyone. I ended up going with the Versa 500 briefcase, a set of 7 racks, and I had another member reach out and hook me up with a wooden case for just the price of shipping so now I have options. The wooden case if I want a centerpiece to display my chips at close to the table…clear racks to stack them up with in my closet for storage…and the 500 Versa that should hold 600 of my 700 chips when I travel.

Sounds like I now have too much storage and will need more chips. This is the way.

Finally got home and get to play with chip and case options!

First up are trays. Hold 700 chips perfect.

2nd we have the 1000 count wood box. This thing is beautiful and will definitely be a great display to be able to leave my chips out to be admired.

Lastly we have the Versa 500 briefcase. It holds 53 chips per row for a total of 180 x .05, 180 x .25, 159 x $1, and 53 x $5 making a total of 572 with room left if I needed more chips for traveling games.

Super happy with all the decisions made.
