Where do I want to stay in Vegas? (1 Viewer)

Oh really, will have to make a note of that. Who cares what the place is like  :ROFLMAO: my favourite bar at home didnt even have dividers between the cubicles but it was a great place. So aslong as the steak is nice i dont care haha

Big big fan of Flamingo.
Location location location

cheaper side if things
East walk to Caesar’s or Bellagio or Venetian
The linq/flamingo alley is awesome for quick bites

Also didn’t see it mentioned
Download PokerAtlas app and Bravo poker app

shows daily games and waitlists on cash games

Even though I consider the Circus-Circus casino to be gross, everyone I know in Vegas says that they have one of the best steak house in the city. I havent tried it (I'm a cheap ass and will eat free with comps before going out and paying) but everyone from uber drivers to concierges to friends all say its amazng.

It's ok. ;)

This has been a wealth of information, keep it coming I could easily waste a bunch of time looking for what I want and not finding. Thanks for all the advice.

Kids age and what are they (and the wife) are into, is going to be the most important thing, followed by budget. Poker can be found within walking distance from all over the strip but not having to worry about the other three will be a priority.

Dont have kids, im not about that life so its just me and the girlfriend so we will be pretty flexible on what we can do thankfully

I must have hit the sweet spot for age or something. Last trip I got propo'd about 10 times. One followed me from the Flamingo all the way to Harrah's.
I'm batting .500, been approached on two of my last four trips. Once was when my wife was sitting about four slot machines away.

It’s been a while, but...

Excalibur is a cheaper hotel on the strip. Years ago said hotel and neighboring Luxor offered as a bonus: an aquarium full of fish, free of charge.

The answer to “Where do I want to stay on the strip?” is NEVER the Trashy Castle.

If the question was “where can I stay on the strip if I have a very limited budget and openness to sleeping under bridges?”, I think a healthy debate might ensure regarding the Trashy Castle with some optimizing fresh air and other optimizing bedding covered in DNA and regret.

So many nice options in Vegas if you have the ability to go nicer I highly recommend it. If budget is constrained, consider many other options before the Trashy Castle.

WANT to stay? With a family of four?

We are a family of four and usually spring for a more expensive room central strip because... well... it's the Strip. Our favorites:

1) Vdara is nice but can be expensive. It's nice when you walk in, no smoke, no casino, just a nice place to relax. Quick check in. It's wedged between the Bellagio and Aria so access to the poker rooms and tram. They have lofts or one to two bedroom penthouses which are amazing with family. Here is a terrible 2015 video tour - some vintage Jon Hobby. (This is what happens in Vegas when you're waiting for your buddy to shower)

2) Mirage Hospitality suites - good location. Basically a two bedroom suite with two twins in one room, and a king in the other. Perfect for a family of four. The master bathroom was super nice. The only problem is availability as these are awfully popular but maybe they are more available now? If I don't see it online I call and check.

Luxor is worth considering. The Venetian is nice. Mandalay Bay is also okay for it's location. Personally, I don't like MGM Grand with family - casino feels extra smokey/loud/crowded. Probably doesn't have that problem now though. Wynn/Encore is very nice. Aria/Bellagio can have long check in lines... I need to stop.

My response was directed at the OP. If it's just the two of you, there are a million threads out there (and on this site) recommending places to stay. Again, it just comes back to your interests (food, gambling, shows, hookers!) and how close you want to be to them plus your budget.

If there's no budget and you just want "do" Vegas, recommended would be:

Wynn/Encore
Aria
Vdara
Cosmopolitan
Circa (Downtown)
Venetian/Palazzo

Want old School:
Caesars
Mirage

Best Mid-Priced:
MGM
Paris
Planet Hollywood
Golden Nugget (Downtown)

Best On a Budget:
Harrahs
Flamingo
Treasure Island
Ballys
NYNY

Want Bed Bugs:
Circus Circus
Linq
Excalibur
Stratosphere

Thank you for checking on me.

When this came up there were no requirements on where players and families needed to stay. Now the situation has changed and we are essentially forced to stay at the MGM Grand. I know this has very mixed reviews from members here, but there is little choice in the matter. My wife had a really nice arrangement with the Palazzo. We will have to go there another time, maybe without kids.

I have made a plan to harvest some chips from a few places for sure.

Circus Circus
Venetian
Bally's
Boulder Station
Sam's Town
Maybe others....

I won't be getting in to Vegas until after midnight. I'm putting them in the room and heading out to play and harvest.

Since you are on Tropicana avenue and you mentioned affordable tournaments, I will repeat what @moose and @Nanook mentioned earlier in the thread and encourage you to consider the Orleans for some poker. Well run poker room, plenty of tournament options.

Best of luck, enjoy your stay.

I will be there the 22-26 myself.

The stay so far has been a little bumpy, but things get taken care of quickly here. We didn't arrive until 1am. The room smelled like a poker room from the 70's. There was more than a couple of people in the next room having a very spirited orgy. At 1:20 I went to the front desk and they changed the room immediately to a "stay well" room and gave me a $100 voucher. Major points scored with the wife.

My 14 year old daughter and I went for a tour of the strip on Friday night, very eye opening with all the craziness. The Bellagio fountain was awesome and now she wants to go on the NY NY roller coaster at night, not sure on that one.

Chip harvesting has required a bit of diplomacy but happening anyway. I may look for tournament this evening, gotta get some cards in my hand.

Our first room was the same way! You could tell they went into the room with the toilet and just chain smoked.

I’ve also not sure I’ve ever seen so many people walking the strip as I did last night.

Playing in a tournament at Bally's. No one here even knows what is going on during the hand and I can't get cards worth a crap.
