Where do I want to stay in Vegas? (1 Viewer)

I’m not sure about poker. But I think the Venetian is all suites. Might be good for a family of four.

Cool.

Let me rephrase the need for info.

I want to know where a family of four should stay.

AND

Where can I play in some good tourneys for not a ton of cash?

ONE MORE THING

Where are some good chips to harvest?

Ok. That should cover it. Lol

I've stayed at Marriott's Grand Chateau with reward points before, rooms are spacious suites, some with kitchenettes. It's basically across the street from Planet Hollywood and about a 2-3 block walk from Aria, two of my favorite poker rooms to play in.

Download Wynn Slots app on your phone and start playing. You use coins to play slots and you earn gems by spinning/betting coins. Gems can be used to redeem free rooms at the Wynn.

I don't know if you'll have enough time to earn enough before your trip. However, depending on your Googling skills, you can find betting strategies that earn you billions of coins exposing how broken the game really is.

For the last couple years I've been staying exclusively at the Wynn thru this app.

Wow! Do you need to sign up for a players card also?

All the sub $100 tourneys can be found here:

You might want to pair a tournament at the Flamingo with some harvesting there, as their solid blue dollar chips are relatively easy to get from the cage, from what I've heard.

As far as accommodation is concerned, the Venetian seems to be pretty cheap at the moment.

South Point! Just far enough off the strip that you can still go when you want, but far enough away that your kids don't have to watch old men walk in with 22 year old prostitutes on their arm. They have $60 tournaments and free parking for the rental car!

Am i the only person ever to go to Vegas and not notice a single prostitute lol

Wherever you stay, before you book, make sure you are booking through the rewards program (Bally's or MGM) you get about 10% off.

Lots of the regular poker tournaments are not playing now. Most tournaments seem cheaper then usual. Aria and Ceasars are less then $200 and probably get larger pools then usual with all the comp gone, but possibly less fish. Aria takes a while to play (5-8 hours) Never played Flamingo.

With a family, I'd stay at Venetian if I could afford, get good price. TI, Mirage or Park MGM would also be good family choices for less usually.

I'd avoid Planet Hollywood, Cosmo with family

I usually stay Aria, when I go.

Shop around. Vegas prices are alway really in flux. Bellagio, MGM Grand, Caesars are all really nice for families and sometime surprising cheap.

Its really hard to suggest a place. If I were going alone with the plan to just play poker and harvest, then I stay in the cheapest place as close to the strip as possible, but that doesnt work well with a family. Family friendly places are going to be higher in price and more centrally located on the strip. IF you plan on playing a lot of poker, while having your family, then I would pick a place with the games you want so that you can go up and down from your room as needed. Otherwise youre going to be bussing/ubering a lot and it will get old very quickly. Pick you most important aspect of the trip and find a place to meet that need.

I have been to Vegas several times for Soccer Tournaments with kids. Usually we have been given just a few places to choose from because of tournament rules. If I could stay where I wanted and I was there with young kids I wouldn't stay anywhere near the strip. I'd stay out in Summerlin or down in Henderson depending on where the games are being played.

Let the wife stay with the kids and go play poker at night after the kiddos are in bed.

Bellagio, Venetian & Aria are top level poker rooms in Vegas. Wynn & Cesars are decent & Orleans is where locals go.

I really like staying at Treasure Island. It’s central, affordable, clean and easy to get to most of the poker rooms on the strip.

Thanks to everyone that have supplied advice so far, keep it coming.

Nanook, This is not a stay to play situation because of COVID. The options are open for whatever. Your suggestion of staying away is awesome but never would fly with the wife.

Was literally thinking the same thing
I must have hit the sweet spot for age or something. Last trip I got propo'd about 10 times. One followed me from the Flamingo all the way to Harrah's.

Anyways. If you want a suggestion I would stay at the Orleans. Rooms won't be expensive. Plenty of free parking. Lots of cash games, they spread a variety of games besides holdem and there are lots of low buyin tournaments everyday. The poker room comps $1 or $2 per hour of play (forget which), enough so you can take a few bucks off your hotel room when you check out.

There is a food court for the kiddo's and lots of other onsite restaurants. There is an pool, arcade, movie theatre and bowling alley if the kids need something to do in the evenings. It is close to the highway so you can quickly get to wherever the soccer games are and right next to the highway exit, is In n Out burger.

It's not far from the strip if you want to hit that up as well. If you don't want to drive there is a shuttle between Orleans/Gold Coast/High Roller (Linq).

Back in like 1999 or 2000 me and 6 of my friends went to Vegas. My friend comes up to us from the bar and tells us about these really hot girls he’s having a lot of success with and he’s going to get a few more drinks with them. And he says he’ll get them up to his room before the end of the night. He showed them to us and the four of us playing Black Jack look at them and say to him you know they are professionals right? He says we are full of S$:t and why don’t we believe he has game and we should be ashamed. We say whatever. He comes back to the Blackjack table like 30 minutes later or so with a dejected look on his face and tells us they wanted like $500 each to go back to his room. This was at the Riviera.

Despite what some people say I would not stay off the main strip. Yes hotels off of the strip are cheaper, but there is nothing like being on the main strip where you can walk to the different casinos that have poker tournaments at different times. Also you can hit the different shows and restaurants and shopping without having to drive. Also if you wanted to indulge in a few adult beverages the strip would be better. I’ve stayed in a bunch of the hotels and casinos on and off the strip in the past. I didn’t have as much fun staying off strip. But I’ve stayed in Henderson mostly when I went because my family had a townhome before there. It was like 10 minutes off the strip maybe, but it worked for me because the Green Valley Ranch was across the street. And when I went to the strip I didn’t drink because I had to drive and it kept me more focused on poker.
