Where do I want to stay in Vegas? (1 Viewer)

sams for harvest, circus circus for kids, aria for poker. planet hollywood is central, nice and affordable.
Maybe because it is the actual casino from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, but I wouldn't bring my family to Circus Circus.

Circus Circus on our trip in 97 was awesome! I was 15 and my dad, aunt and grandfather wanted to gamble. The indoor amusement park was like $25 for an all day wrist band to do anything you wanted. The place was loaded with other kids that their parents had also dumped off. At the time laser tag was all the rage. Most places you went it was like $10 for 15 minutes. We pretty much stayed in there for 3 days straight and just played laser tag the whole time.

Last time I was in CC was about 2014 and it was a dive, just had that dirty feel to it but maybe that's me, the saturated smoke smell was bad (not quite as bad as Excalibur) but pretty bad. It is not very well located for walking access from my memory, not as bad as the Strat but still a ways up there if you want to hike to the main drag!

This next part has nothing to do with your family trip @Bad Toad but I feel I have opened this can of worms, and this is halarious.

This is a fun adult game that can actually be played at the MGM and the casino does not take a rake!! One of the few games I have won in Vegas!

@Perthmike let's make a plan that the next time you are state side buddy that starting at 11 PM on a Friday night we sit just inside the main entrance to MGM. Every minute that passes without a girl under 30 (and obvious attire that suggests their work uniform, and no I don't mean McDonalds) with a dude well over 55. I will give you $2, but for every obvious "couple" that we agree ahead of time on what that definition is, you give me $1. We do this for 2 hours. You would probably win now given covid... but pre covid you would loose more times that not. I use to use that as my Friday night entertainment and quality people watching time!

I came up with this game for a Bachelor party in 2011... may sound stupid but the boys were all for it as we could gamble against each other and not give our money to the casino for a couple hours. Lol

Prices are so cheap in Vegas right now, get a suite at the Palazzo:

South Point! Just far enough off the strip that you can still go when you want, but far enough away that your kids don't have to watch old men walk in with 22 year old prostitutes on their arm. They have $60 tournaments and free parking for the rental car!
Where is this hotel? Asking for a friend  :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:

Anyone got any review of the bellagio in general as a hotel? Should be in vegas this or next summer and been looking at staying 10 night at the bellagio

B was the most prestigious spot on the strip. Now there are newer and nicer places like Wynn and Aria. Its still very nice but a bit dated compared to some of the newer hotels.

Amazing pool area. Maybe best in LV.

Park MGM is now smoke-free, which makes it a good option for families in my opinion. You can essentially walk down a long hallway and be at the Aria in five minutes for poker. Flamingo has some of the best low-stake, fairly quick tournaments if that's what you're looking for. Bally's usually has some as well, but they weren't running the last time (two weeks ago) I was there.

Edit: I was able to harvest two full uncirculated racks from Park MGM just by asking the cashier. So, potentially good for harvesting as well.

I agree 100%. Great in its day; however, better places these days. Wynn and Palazzo in my book; although I haven't stayed at Aria.

Yeah the common areas of B are really nice and it is still an amazing iconic spot. Honestly though I would take a room at Planet Hollywood or Park MGM over the haggard rooms at the B. I think the B is a bit overpriced given how old the rooms are. Its not THAT bad its just that these new spots are immaculate and modern.

I haven't stayed at Cosmo but that seems to be super nice and very central. If you don't mind paying a few bucks extra Cosmo is fancy af. Regardless of where you stay go eat at Eggslut for a morning bite and Wicked Spoon for lunch or dinner buffet. Couple of the best spots in town are hidden inside Cosmo.

Will have to take that into consideration then. I like the look of the steak restaurant overlooking the fountains

Vegas is super spread out. If you haven't been before bring comfortable athletic shoes you don't mind putting clicks/miles on. For first timers I def recommend staying on the strip to soak it all in. Stay somewhere that makes sense for what you want to do. If you want to play poker at Aria then stay somewhere nearby. It might sound like obvious advice but people stay somewhere off strip or a few blocks away and it can be a buzzkill to always have to uber/walk to the action.

I love Planet Hollywood for the party vibe and staying at the center of everything. Right across the street from the B fountains and a very short walk to Paris (harvesting duh).

Sound advice. We will be doing abit of everything most likely so central is best for us. Both activities during they day and partying on the night. I dont mind a few ubers though its hardly going to break the bank. And yes i will be looking to get plenty of chips, hopefully 6 racks in different colours to make a custom set. And shooting, one thing that i will be 100% doing is shooting shit our ranges in the UK just dont cut it.

Even when you stay on the strip you will still be ubering a fair bit. Many good restaurants off strip that are wroth the trip. Its just nice to be walking distance to the big name places that you undoubtedly will want to check out. The first night in Vegas is always exciting! By day 3 you just want to be at home again lol.

Why is that  :ROFLMAO:

I am planning my first stay there for my trip this June.
I stayed there a couple of years ago. It was nice getting away from the hustle and bustle. There are also some casinos that have a hidden resort with no casinos but are connected to the casino via a nondescript door to the casino. I think it was a Four Seasons I stayed at within a casino but cannot recall the casino right now. It is actually great and very refreshing to get away and relax away from the casinos sometimes.

Non stop lights, gambling, smoking, drinking, and poon tang can wear a man down!

Man I want to go to Vegas soooo bad now!
Sounds like it will suit me just right, im the guy whos gutted to have to go home at the end of festivals just wanting one more day  :ROFLMAO: pool parties would pretty cool also but not sure whats on and when, need to do some research

I'm not sure if you've looked into this yet, but there are a bunch of shooting ranges that offer packages so you can shoot a variety of weapons. Some stuff that you would NEVER have access to back home. It's a blast. I've been to The Gun Store, but it's been years. There are a lot more places now that offer the same experience.

Yes i found a couple that offer packages, dont seem too bad on price either if you dont go nuts

As far as places to stay, there are so many good choices that people have listed here. The last time we were there with kids we stayed at The Signature at MGM. It's separate (but connected) to the MGM Grand and we had a great experience. Our kids are teenagers so when we travel we like to book two rooms, adjoining, if possible. At the Signature we got two suites that were connected in a pretty cool way. There was a single door from the hallway (that required key access) that opened to a small entryway with two doors leading into the two separate suites. Nice set up. And the Signature has rooms with balconies with strip views which I thought was pretty awesome.

Even though I consider the Circus-Circus casino to be gross, everyone I know in Vegas says that they have one of the best steak house in the city. I havent tried it (I'm a cheap ass and will eat free with comps before going out and paying) but everyone from uber drivers to concierges to friends all say its amazng.
