Sellers can see it, it's just blocked from the public. Before eBay changed it, anyone could see the full buyers name. This was problematic for a lot of buyers. So eBay offered to allow sellers to make their listings with buyer identity protection (anyone can do this). So if you're buying a gift for someone, they can't figure out what you bought ahead of time. Also, dildos... Who wants their name publicly tied to dildo purchases?
