Greetings Programs!
I purchased some chips and cards from a friend who used to work in Harrah’s Reno/Lake Tahoe (and other) casinos since the 70’s.
I separated the chips which have different fonts (white and orange). Some of the labels are bubbling.

There are two different decks of cards from Harrah’s poker rooms. The older blues are from the late 70’s - 80’s, and the newer purples are newer (from the 90’s and onward I guess.) All the decks of cards are unused - still with their original seals and plastic, with the older decks plastic ripped or loose in places. The box of purples is complete but open.

Could anyone give me a loose estimate of what each are worth? I’m going to keep a select few of these because… well, I’m a collector, and I‘d like to honor my friend by keeping some of his things. I’ve been a member long enough to know that chip value is dependent on many factors, but I have no price guide to consult.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!

***UPDATE***
Spinetti’s has the brown/brown chip listed as a roulette from 1970s at $5/chip, so maybe I’d be able to sell them for $2 each??? My initial guess was that they were all roulette chips since they had no values, and probably the chip/inlay color determines their value, but I can’t say for sure with confirmation.
Again… any info would be appreciated!

The cards are likely valued as memorabilia as most would prefer plastic decks to paper.

There really isn’t a published guide on value for these things, that I’m aware of.

The chips don’t really seem to be a playable set, which would likely also sell to single chip collectors. White and brown are not typically heavily sought after

"worth" is a hard thing to pin down. Selling a bunch of singles is an exercise in patience. Sellers often wait weeks or months between sales. Lots of time, effort and fees go into eBay auctions that fail again and again waiting for the one customer this month. Then you have to pack and ship your single chip.

How much is your time worth? This as much as anything else will drive your sales effort and payout. If you are having fun - then great, go for it. If it becomes a PITA, maybe the chips and cards end up in a drawer somewhere.

Good luck -=- DrStrange

I‘m a patient person, so I’d be able to wait to make a worth-while sale! Single chip, shuffle stack, or barrel... it doesn’t matter who buys what - You only get what you want, and I’m happy to provide what I can!
As everyone knows, eBay just rapes us with fees, and now Paypal is looking to do the same. I’d rather sell the chips here for $2 ea. to people who appreciate them more than get less after eBay fees.

Thanks for the input!

I suspect that you would do about as well just selling all the chips as one lot (either via auction or a regular sale) as you would selling them singly.

Possibly you could make more with singles sales. But the real-world value of getting maybe a slightly lower payout now as a lump sum I suspect is greater than the slow headache of mailing dozens of singles over months or years.

An auction listing would let the market decide the price, though there would be a small risk of it going for your minimum price. If you go that route, choose a start price you could live with. But I bet these would hold enough interest to get bid up to a correct price.

I‘m chatting with a friend of a friend who may want to buy the whole lot. If he doesn’t flake out, I should get value for it!

If not, I’ll post it as a lot here. I just hope someone bids on the auction when I post it!
