Value for money (1 Viewer)

Seems you’re part of the inner circle. Are transactions like these occurring these days? That’s insane for me to wrap my head around unless said chips were once owned by some dignitary.

Lol I am definitely not in any circle. Just another railbird. I did just buy 4 racks of leaded THC $5 for $4000 from my recent wanted listing… Listings like that aren’t easily noticed anymore because I didn’t bump it 30 times or use cool gifs. My mockup over the weekend:

My Empress $1s ($700/rack) are currently out on loaner before I get grief for using unleaded in this pic.

These old threads are always fun to revisit:

In my 3 years here I’ve only ever seen that chip for sale 3 times. Third time was a charm for me finally (though that thread got deleted…)

You're not alone. I honestly don't get it, but then again, my father collected Matchbox while I was growing up. Didn't get that either. lol

From a functionality vs cost standpoint, I'd say denominated sluggos have to be the winner. Alternatively you could argue that chips that are likely to go up in cost are the best value since you're gaining money (or keeping pace with inflation) by owning them. Aesthetics, sentimentality, rarity, etc. are all reasons to prefer certain chips, but there's a reason all the card rooms in my area are using labelled plastic slugged chips.
