very jealous, tob! i hope you have the album they did with vic chesnutt - the salesman and bernadette. beautiful album, but i might be biased because i adore vic.

here's the lead off track from the album. for some dumb reason they didn't get double billing with vic, but lambchop is the backing band for the whole thing.

Good call on the morphine stas. RIP mark sandman. Discovering that band in my early teens is a great memory. Never got to see them live unfortunately. Cure for pain still gets frequent time on my iPod though.

Seen les live many times in many incarnations and with some of the best musicians alive. Always a blast.

I haven't listened to Morphine for many years. I never got into them initially. I think I will have to revisit their catalog as my musical tastes have broadened quite a bit since my first exposure to them.

i really never understood the hate some sabbath fans had for dio. i mean they were obviously a different band when he stepped in, but were still fucking rocking. maybe it's just that a lot of the late 80s metal culture i grew up with was pretty indulgent and flamboyant, so i was kind of immune to those elements of dio's style and those were the elements most often cited by his critics. whatever - i still jam holy diver.

Stopped listening to music in general when the conversion of formats occurred (AGAIN) back in the early 90's. Sick of having bought the vinyl, then the cassette, then the CD, only to be told . . . LOOK!!! MP3's. I bought CDs of my faves (Queensryche, Iron Maiden, the Clash) and then just switched to talk radio in the car. Daughter bought me a Green Day CD a couple years ago (the one with Last of the American Girls on it). Recently, I just bought the reissues of the Led Zeppelin catalogue (so far) and I have to say they are quite appealing. The sound is very crisp and clear. Page did an excellent job of remastering the classics.
