I found these old chips at an Estate Sale. They look very old and are probably Japanese based. ? They have a heavy smoke smell to them.
2 questions …
1) I didn't have much luck identifying them. Anybody have any ideas ?

2) Not sure of the composition. Any ideas on how to eliminate the smell ?
Thanks,
Ron

I think someone said they were able to remove some of the smell from their China Clays by putting them in a drawer with baking soda. You could also try putting them outside for a bit (out of the sun) and see if you can air them out a bit.

Or just start chain smoking and embrace the smell.

Vinegar baths have worked for me in the past.

Edit- only for a few minutes at a time though. Don’t let them sit too long in it.
