G'day Chippers,

I know most of us are resistant to change but can I implore you to consider using WISE as a payment option in your Auction and For Sale listings. Tommy has kindly added the option to both the Auction Dashboard;

1772143829566.webp

And For Sale options;

1772143897089.webp

Now I'm going to explain why I'm asking.

All of the options listed above, other than PPG&S, are basically peer to peer money transfers. Only PP and Wise are available world wide though. The rest are US only so preclude a growing population of international chippers.

However, Wise has significantly better currency conversion rates making it a favourable option for sending and receiving moneys internationaly.

For instance, I just paid Justin for my March Tina order which was $1339.25.
PayPal rate is 1AUD = 0.6773 USD with a fee of AU$4.06
Total of AUD 1983.38

Compare that to Wise,
Conversion rate closer to market of 1AUD = 0.7105 USD with a fee of AU$8.83
Total is AUD 1893.90

That's a saving of $89.48 or over 60 bucks American. I know, sucks to be me but even if you just consider it, I and many others like me would sincerely appreciate it.

Cheers,
Wade

Yep, can confirm Wise is legit. I’ve used it to send money oversees for non-poker and chip related stuff - does take a couple of steps to set up for security.

I used it to buy a Tiger set from Canada last year and the exchange rate/ cost was much better than a bank wire or SWIFT etc.

Can we just start a fund to pay for everyone’s international shipping since it’s more for you guys?
You are EXTRA cranky this week :)

No need to start any fund since there are options that don't cost anything.

Some might call it smart to make it easier for more buyers to... buy. And more sellers to... sell.

I use wise and love it. Very easy to use and my recipient in the USA has zero issues. It was him who recommended it.

@ekricket let me know when the fund is up and running so I can withdraw from it. Got some stuff to get sent to Australia. Cheers champ.

No need, we know shipping costs are a bitch. They are what they are. This is more about transfering cash using a fair currency conversion because PayPal stiffs anyone not using USD.

WISE is a great platform for international payments. Leaves paypal for dead. Having said that, paypal still has a monopoly for payments on this forum.

With time, hopefully more members get familiar with the service and trust it enough to give it a try. In the interim if I seller/buyer doesnt want to use WISE they dont. Just accept it.

For people that I know and have done business with, I have a US based paypal account and can assist. If the disparity is that big between paypal and WISE you can always PM me. I have the ability to recieve your WISE transfer and Ill do the local USD paypal transfer.

Did you just volunteer to be international chippers paypal trading desk?
Eff yeah. I am happy to be a crypto escrow. It’s so simple. We are on the cusp of everyone saying WTF did we pay exchanges $80 on a $1500 transaction. You could send $1 Million USDC on Solana for like a fraction of a penny. There will soon be stable coins in all major currencies and swaps will be instant and close to free from a fee perspective. Currencies will always fluctuate in value relative to each other but that’s the nature of all fiat currencies.

Don't forget Revolut, also a legit and cheap service for intl transfers. Been using it for years.

Wise requires social security number to setup account. PP and Venmo do too, but I use both of those a lot and they are US based. I am not willing to provide my SS# to a platform I would only use a few times a year. I prefer to have my SS# in as few places as possible. I would do it if I were doing a lot of international transactions as I know the exchange rate is better, but I think I have done less than 5 in the last 2 years.

That’s fine, you don’t have to use Wise but thanks for considering it as an option is all.

Thats only if you setup an account. If you are receiving a bank transfer you dont need to supply your ssn.

Opening an account with wise is no different to opening an account anywhere else however if your just receiving money the same information required for that process is no different
