Was digging around the interwebs for info on the Paulson store and what was offered to the public, found this on the blue wall :(

Yep, custom inlaid spotted Paulsons (any of the home market color/spot combos) $.85/chip

Yeah, but weren't you like 10 years old in 96...you weren't going to spend $200 of your allowance money on a custom hotstamp with spotted edge poker set.

I could've but in 96, I was heavily into girls, guns and gold (not in any particular order).

In 96 I didn't have time for anything. I was 28 and just half my third kid. Pokerwas the last think on my mind.

In 96 I was in full on obsession with Magic the Gathering. Which would up being a very good return on my investment :D

The only time we played poker was New Year's Eve/Day and we all would bring a ziplock bag of change to play.

My son plays it. I pretty much make fun of him when he does lol

My kids do too...

I've heard alot of professional poker players played MTG before turning to poker, so I don't give them any grief... I consider it growing the game.

My boy is 20. I'm going to keep teasing him. He likes it lol

It was/is a very well designed game. Highly competitive. I got burned out on it because they were putting out 4 sets every year and it was getting too expensive to keep up with. It really did help give me a strong understanding of game theory and statistics and probability and meta.

Poker was a natural transition. Many of the top players I knew also made the switch. One player I still talk with is very good friends with David Williams. They played Magic together.

My 14 year old son doesn't have school today. He is laying in bed watching Curious George... lol.

Granted, he doesn't have cable in his room, so he's limited to OTA channels.... but he has a laptop with Kodi and Youtube.

Sorry about the thread jack.

I got into Magic: The Gathering early on. It's a great game; I got hooked quick. But in less than a couple of years our group broke up, and I wasn't a big enough geek to go find players at a comic book shop, so I sold off my cards to a friend for a song.
But it was a great game, with a great marking concept.

Inflation would put these prices at the following in todays prices!

This was based on a Cumulative rate of inflation of 55.8%
Canceled Chips $0.25 - Today's Pricing - $0.39
New Solid $0.45 - Today's Pricing - $0.70
Special Interest $0.63 - Today's Pricing - $0.98
Fantasy Casino $0.63 - Today's Pricing - $0.98
Personalized Inlaid Spotted $0.85 - Today's Pricing - $1.32

Still great pricing

Exactly the same except I used to play with daddy's mother of pearl chips on Christmas/New year's and late summer nights :)

Paulsons were not in my world in '96

I still have alpha and beta MTG cards from when they hit the market at GenCon.

I was also playing poker at the time with custom hot stamps one of the wives bought for the game - no not Paulson, I think they were mermaid chips. Still vastly better than the interlocking plastic wafers we were using back in the 1980s.
