I've been warned by label printers, both @Gear , @ABC Gifts and Awards have siad that using the outer circle on my inlay design can be a problem when printing labels. It's just a byproduct of the printing process that the outer circle may not always be centered correctly on the finished product. Even when Palm did my original labels for the 8V's there were many off centered labels.

As much as I love the outer white ring design (inspired by the old Flamingo inlays), since I'm fixing to have to buy & apply a shit-ton (1000's) of new labels to my new add-on for the Magnolia 8V chips I'm thinking of changing the cash label up and eliminating the outer ring. Otherwise my option is to continue to buy a whole lot of extras and weed out the off centered printed ones as I've always done. Also thinking of cost savings down the line for when I do mill and/or inlay replacements using the Magnolia design.

Original design (of course pic shows all centered labels)

I'm torn of whether I want to switch but it will save quite a bit of money not having to print a ton of extras just to avoid the off centered ones. I'm also not sure how my OCD will react to mixing the new design chips with the originals (probably not a major issue). I'm interested to know what you think.

Have you seen examples that they have made of outer rings? It may not bother you as much as you think.....but on the otherhand it might. A good portion of my labels are slightly off-centered, but when applied to the chip it really does not jump out to me and I don't think about it.

I didn't read your whole post. Looks like you have seen them! I still vote for the outer-ring design. I clearly like it as well!

Yes, I've been applying some recently. Unfortuantely is a fact that a lot end up off centered. Nothing they can really do and I have fairly been warned about it. I can stand a little off but my OCD really zooms in on the off centered ones. I love the outer ring design as much as you do but .

The outer line will most definitely be a problem. That said, it's only a problem if it's a problem. You've seen countless chips out there that use the outer ring. Especially those from the 50's- 80's that have uncentered rings. I like it, personally. It is just part of the process. I say if you like the outer ring use it. Nit being centered perfectly is part of the process.

outer ring is awesome. It’s too bad that our eye is so good at picking out when things are off center, especially in circles.

Did they mention if un-laminated labels would be better? I don’t believe those have to leave the machine between printing and cutting so it could make the alignment better. (I may be wrong though)

That is correct, unlaminated labels are definitely less likely to be off-center (still not 100% guaranteed all the time, but much less of an issue) because as you say, the sheet is in the printer the whole time and does not rely on registration marks or targets.

i like your new design...the dark black color looks better against the clay...plus with a little extra space you may be able to make the font larger...imo
