Like many here, the news that
CPC was being put on the market, and all of the potential uncertainty surrounding same, led me to think long and hard about whether I was truly done with the Sazerac Room set or whether I had any potential future proofing needs. I still use it primarily as a cash set but, my guys are not super high rollers so, on occasion and to get the bigger denoms in play, I would use it as a tournament set. To fully utilize it I needed some more higher denominations.
Over time I had also reached the realization that I could have improved on my original $1 chip to more closely resemble the Saints' color rush uniform. An epiphany hit me when I realized that, due to the fact I had purchased way too many fracs (lol), that if I created a new primary $1 for myself, and bought even more of the existing denoms, I could cut out a playable set to gift to my son as well. With that in mind I was off to the races.
The new primary $1 is my improvement on the original and screams Black and Gold to me. I really like how it came out and think it is going to look fantastic in play.
For the new upper denominations, I wanted to give a nod to boiled crawfish and Tabasco, two staples of Louisiana food and spice. DG Tiger is perfect for that. I also loved the Empress 1K and felt its coloration was a match made in chip heaven. So the new 1K is my ode to both:
Finally, I needed a $5K chip so I can fully implement this set into tournaments in my league. This chip is more of a personal choice than one that is linked to LA specific themes other than it was chosen by a former Louisianian (and his son). Both I and my kid really liked the 1K Pharoah (and CDI05 1K) so this is our tribute to those fantastic color combos.
Looking forward to getting this set into play soon. Hope you all enjoy them as much as I do.
More to come as I get them all cleaned up.
