That's greater than normal but typical for one percent or so of compression molded chips. Doesn't bother me that much.

Keep it in play as an oddball or add the chip to the "just in case" extras stash.

How do I fix the sunlight to not have shadows, other than take photos at high noon? Do I need to turn on flash from the other angle?

What you want is actually indirect sunlight. It will come out better and cut down on those shadows.
