After reading through the "Official Horse Racing Game Thread" I bought one on Amazon (see picture). It was rather expensive at $37 but I ordered it in the morning of our card game and it arrived that day for us to play that night! There are no loose pieces (other than the 2 dice) as the horses are contained in the board so its very convenient. It was fun to mix into the night. We play dealer's choice games and surprisingly quite a few players chose to play it on their "deal". It was so much fun that I looked into other games to mix in and I found a 6 player Shut The Box game. The game play is pretty simple just stand up your numbered tiles and take turns rolling 2 dice. You can turn down any tiles that add up to the number rolled. (Ex: A rolled 7 could turn down 7, 6+1, 5+2, 4+3 or 4+2+1) Continue taking turns until you can't turn down any tiles. (Ex: You roll a 6 and only have a 1, 8 & 10 tile standing) At that point your score would be 19 and you no longer get a turn. Obviously the goal is to "Shut The Box" by being able to turn down all your tiles but if not then the person with the lowest total tiles standing wins. We put in $3 each for a pot of $21 going to the winner. There are quite a few other ways to play and you can find videos on YouTube to watch for ideas. We played that if you had only tiles from 6 lower standing you have the option to roll 1 die. As I said you'll find a variety of ways to play and I hope some of you will try it out.

Shut the box is awesome. We played it in college all the time. I have a smaller travel set.

We’d play $1 a round and it kept going $1 each round until someone shut the box for the pot.

I hadn’t seen those 4 person boards - those are sweet! I also haven’t seen them with a 10 on the board.

This is cool! I love different games like this. I just ordered one from Amazon. The horse race board I found here and ordered as well is a hit at my game and with my son, I think this will be too

My next game is Penny Drop (I love these too). Game play is kinda like Bar Dice (also called Poker Dice) where you put pressure on the next player.

I actually put that same game in my cart as I was ordering the one in your op! Lol! It’s next on my list as well, I kinda went down a rabbit hole on Amazon. Besides shut the box this penny game stood out as easy and fun and could be easily adapted to bet a couple dollars on as some here may like to do ;)

This is just itching for a ‘Chip Drop’ upgrade. Why use pennies when you could use poker chips?

Am I the only one who looked at the picture and thought "each roll costs a quarter, one roll per turn, pot goes to whoever runs out of tiles first"?

Does this game play well with casino dice that has sharp corners or do you need the more traditional rounded dice?
