I’m not sure if I saw a fake ad or some AI post on Facebook but if Mike the grinder, Mizrahi actually won the Main, I think that is very, very good for him and for Poker.

I always thought the guy was pretty likable and he was one of the old-school pros who is able to catch up with the new times of Poker.

He was one of those old-school pros that didn’t get caught up in any cheating or colluding scams.

He’s always joking around and having fun at the table. I think it’s gonna be really good for Poker at least better than last year.

I can’t wait to watch the highlights from the final table. I heard he went through it like a buzz saw.

He sucked out Tuesday with AK against KK against the chip leader, hitting an ace on the river, and then blew through the remainder of the final table. I'm not sure how much having a hall of famer win the main does for growing the game--kind of the opposite of Moneymaker--but the guy's resume is amazing and he has a bit of personality to bring to the entertainment side of poker.

Yeah, 4 PPC wins, back-to-back (not all 4 though) and Main Event is absurd. Also he's kind of retired. He only plays PPC and a few WSOPs each year, that's it.

And not to take anything away from him, I belive all ME winners has to have luck but here's from Polk video and his all-ins that he won. I don't know if he's life was on the line for all of them, but here it is;

Accumulated odds are 0.14%. :D

He played really well and ran hot at the same time. A winning combo. Well deserved win imo
And from at least what I’ve NOT heard. Is that he wasn’t a scummy poker player like sooo many of the “old pros”, ie letterer, duke, Hamilton, full tilt, etc.

Even Dneggs said that it was common practice to angle people off the felt back then.

I’m happy Mike has kept his nose clean and won it. Even though he’s a pro it’s better than some lame data nerd. He’ll shine in whatever promos are ahead of him.

I think it’s even better he won then somebody more well-known like Phil Ivey. If Phil Ivey won it’s like “yeah he’s great at poker but didn’t he cheat a bunch of casinos or something…?”

I don't know what else he does all year, but he actually cashed 12 WSOP events this summer.
Shows you what good summers Deeb and Glaser had, that mizrachi won the main, the ppc, had 10 other cashes, and came in 3rd for player of the year. Crazy.

Awesome that a pro took it down I thought a pro with a decent size name would never win this again

And to spin it up from 3bigs to win it is crazy but let's not forget just at the final table he won AK vs KKs he won AK vs JJs he won KJ vs AQ all ins he was a dog all 3 times I'm just now watching the final with 3 left so he might have won more being a dog

Great player well deserved he def got lucky though for sure and some players at the final table played like donks hallaert calling off 75% of his stack against grinder with just 1 pair was donkey I get it it was vs grinder and grinder could have any two and could have been bluffing but to call 60ms of your 84 with just 1 pair after the river is just Donk City and the woman at the table calling 20bbs with A10 suited with 7players left is Donk City as well

It's like they get to the final table and explode a lot I prob would too it's slot of pressure

He's def a lil too cocky though I mean he plays damn near any two n gets lucky but his reading ability is crazy I'll def give him that def a great player all in all

No no lol disagree if Ivey won it that would be the biggest thing poker has ever seen cause many view him as the Goat

Don't forget Ivey is great at all the games too not just hold em

The best thing that could happen for poker is if Ivey ,Dnegs or Hellmuth won the Main and it's not even close

But grinder is cool too way better then these other pros who are cheating nerds

So stupid u win the PPC and the main you should be auto player of the year

Deeb is like padding stats like LeBron in the NBA

Grinder should be player of the year he won the two hardest events u can win

If Ivey won the main event it would be a big deal bc Ivey is not known as a Hold’em tournament player. I don’t even know if any of his bracelets are for a Holdem Event.

Unlike Helmuth who I think most of his bracelets are in Holdem. Helmuth earlier this year teased that he wasn’t even going to play this year saying “a pro would never win again” and it just happened that a very well known pro was able to take it down.

Just like when moneymaker won as an amateur and they player pool has gotten so big. Seemed impossible for a pro to win again especially since hold’em has basically been “solved” by the algorithms. But mizrachi winning will change the tide of poker again showing that while it’s still mostly a numbers game, the skill level is still not just in the numbers. Someone like Mirachi winning is great for poker because he is known to have a wide range and doesn’t just play the numbers. Mizrachi winning two major bracelets in the same year is incredible and shows his skill is undeniably not just luck boxing to the end. Pros will see that the ME Bracelet is still achievable even with the huge field of GTO comp players.

Well said.

He won nine out of his last nine all-in shoves or calls. Often getting it in bad.
Yeah, he for sure was lucky. I don’t see anything in my post that contradicts that.

Are you saying he was just lucky and not also, playing well? Did you actually watch the stream or just a youtube breakdown of the all-in hands?

Also ”getting it in bad” is the results. It doesn’t necessarily mean it was bad play. The AK vs KK hand comes to mind for instance.

Never get married to AK that's all I know after 22yrs of playing I can fold AK pre easy sometimes

Did I read right that those were the only two events Grinder played this year? If so, I completely disagree. Nobody should ever be able to win Player of the Year without more participation than that, even if he did bink the two events he played.

I think he played more then that but what he did will NEVER be done again Id bet anything on that that alone should make him auto player of the year he won the two hardest tourneys in the field

No, he was playing all summer. He cashed in a dozen events, just nothing super high outside of the two wins.

It got him Auto Hall of Fame so fuck the Player of the Year lol even though he would got in sooner or later

They really need to go to at least 2-3 players inducted every year this 1 player a year shit is wack

The Poker Community could not be more thrilled, especially in south Florida, we know that every dollar he won will re-enter the poker economy !!! (Or be placed on a poker table somewhere, up for grabs)

Hope he can avoid past money management mistakes.
