Suggestions for a Suitable Replacement? (1 Viewer)

After only about 20 times on the felt, my blue spirit molds are slowly crumbling and are not longed for this earth. So I am looking for a suitable replacement.

I'd like to reuse the existing labels if possible (if they'll come off - I don't know how reusable @Gear labels are). If I need to get new labels printed though, NBD.

The rest of my tournament set is holding up fine, so there's no need to replace them.

The label recess is 1 1/16", so ideally replacement chips would be the same. Something that stacks to roughly the same barrel height would also be helpful.

Sticking with the color blue isn't a requirement if getting new labels printed is necessary.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It’s a shame the spirit molds are so crumbly. Of all the china clays, they’re the ones that feel and sound most like Paulsons. Plus, they have those nice sharp corners.

It's only the blue ones (and the solids, from what I've heard)... and more specifically it's just the white edgespots that are flaking. The rest of the chip seems fine however it feels like it's only a matter of time before one shatters. Can't have that

I think I'm getting away from the spirit molds, thanks.

Majestics are a leading possibility... those board game chips @Apache is rocking is also an idea - I just don't know if I want to wait for the production time.

Or maybe I'll just replace the whole set with custom ceramics. Know anyone who might like a tournament set with my website and logo on them?

Depends on what condition they’re in.

If you're being serious, they're all in good condition except for the blue ones. I have around 2500 total spirit molds I think.

Just a thought Mike but instead of taking off the labels on your blues, how about handing them out to clients? Do what Paulson does and use them as business cards. They have your website already on them!

If they are vinyl labels, I'm not sure how lucky you'll be getting them off the chip in good shape (without stretching or tearing). Have you tried partly peeling one off yet?

No - and I'm not optimistic about the chances of salvaging them. Thing is, if I don't save enough of them successfully, I'll end up ordering at least some labels anyhow.

If just wanting to replace the blue chips, I'd either post a wtb ad, or ask ABC if he has any 8v CC colors left that would match up well with your set.

If looking to replace the entire set, I'd go with the new 43mm Royals.

I'm kind of gathering that there isn't a suitable replacement. I like the 8v idea... I actually have a bunch leftover from the giveaway but barrels of them are too tall and don't fit in my trays or my cabinet.

Love the 43mm Royal idea... But same issue... I don't have racks for them... Nor do they fit in the foam in my cabinet.

My spirits will hold up for the time being... But I'm probably going to end up making wholesale changes to my tournament set sooner or later.

CPS, Dunes (latest version), and Majestics should all fit in racks that hold your Spirit mold chips, although probably a tad loose.

I have 250 blue chips in my tournament set... but it's not urgent. There's only 3 more events in my league before we're done until fall - they'll hold up that long I'm sure.

Blues and the Yellow with brown and pink edge spots broke the most. If I were to remake the set I would have had Yellow with the blue edgespots as my $1. GOOD LUCK

Yeah my yellows have held up just fine. I don't know what I'm going to do right now... it's crossed my mind to see if anyone wants a cheap 1000 chip tournament set and put that $$ toward a set of custom ceramics.

I'm not a huge fan of ceramics... but I'm even less of a fan of peeling and applying labels - so I'm undecided.

Ummmm yeah. I don't mind labeling. It's Zen like. A rack or two a night while I watch tv or something.
