Can't remember if I posted this or not. From when I played the two-day 40k guaranteed tourney at Silks Poker Room in Tampa. Went into Day 2 with around 117K in chips, made the final table but busted in 9th for $1,200 when I tried a squeeze play against a raiser and two callers but the raiser had AK and that was it for me.

How does the dealer pull chips from that side of the table? Between the rake collector, the players card reader, the iPad, and the auto-shuffler, I'm surprised that there's any room left for cards and chips

I was told he cashed out for $135k started with $5k. Was betting $5k a hand at one point. Doubling down on soft 19 vs 3 & 4 showing. I don’t know BJ all that well but my buddy said it was very gambley and not so much sound strategy.
I don’t get how someone can be that much of a luckbox.

I was chatting to a guy last week at 1/3. He had $800 when I left at 5:15am and I later found out he left at 12:30pm with $4000. On his way out he went to the dealer table poker and won another $5k.

Being a crazy gambler does pay off at times it seems. It’s a shame I’ll never get to experience that kind of a win, though I’d probably die of a heart attack if I was that wild.

my buddy went the the casino with his boss (owner of the company) after a company outing. They ended up in the high stakes room playing blackjack.

This is his bosses stack, insanely good run!

Damn those chips are sweet. I am rooting for a rebrand and a chiproom sale.

Yeah, some people run like this and I can't win an all-in as a 3:1 favorite to save my life... :banghead:

Remember, though, that for every one of these stories, there are a few hundred times where the guy walks in with $5K and walks out with nothing. Casinos don't feel variance like we do because of their high volume, so they can count on realizing the mathematical edge in house games pretty consistently. They LOVE it when somebody books a big win and tells their friends, shares it on social media, etc. It drives volume, and that's what casinos count on.

Sorry for the dumb question, in a lot of pictures in front of the dealer there is a display with a lot of buttons that do not seem to belong to the shuffling machine. What are they used for?

That is to keep track of players for comps, knowing what seats are open, to call for a waitress etc. Also used for must move tables.

Rake calculation I believe, but I have no concept about how these work / are operated - I would love to hear details of anyone knows!

@Rhodeman77 gave the right answer, but where I play dealers have to log into the tables as well. This is because they do count how often the drop slot is pulled each down so dealers get an idea of their "rate." (Hands/hour.)

The best dealers are in the 30s, but I have never heard of anyone being fired for rate or anything. They're all pretty motivated to deal quickly.

17 players $125 tourney at Catfish Bend. Down to 8, I’m second stack with over 2x average stack. Hoping I can back my way into cash. :)
