Seller flaked out when I asked them to send a Paypal request and add 4% for fees (3 Viewers)

I find it funny, people are so worried about taking a payment for goods, but yet the item they sold has a value and the profit is likely very low. Currently the government (fed) has a 20K PER YEAR trigger for a 1099-k form to even be reported. Yet make claims there are flags each transaction and having to keep receipts etc and pay taxes on what they are doing.

But then on the other hand they are not worried about lying and hiding business from the IRS and state tax authority through being fraudulent and what those reprecussions would be if they got caught.

I guess with that position laundering money is ok too - as long as no one catches you....

It's truly amusing the mental circus of gymnastics that must be going on up there in their heads.
I have no idea what your rant on taxes, etc., has to do with chipping.

Jesus. I don't wanna make a deal with you now and it has nothing to do with 4%.

For whatever it’s worth, I don’t like receiving payment via PPGS. And if I’m being perfectly honest, it’s based on a somewhat irrational fear of the unknown. I have no idea if one or two goods and services transactions will have PayPal scrutinizing my account more closely. I have no idea if in 5 years I get audited and the IRS looks into everything and flags those transactions. I have no idea if the buyer is going to pull a fast one and want their money back…

I’ve never had a problem with FF and I choose to keep things as simple as I can.

Uh, Zelle? You're dealing directly with the bank. It's how I got the rent payment from my former tenants.
Then again I've yet to do a 4- for 5-figure transaction on here.

A visitor comes to a magical land, a land known to hold all the mystical poker chips the world holds. Collectors from far lands travel here to get goods from the Bazzar of chips.

The visitor attempts to make a deal with one of the sellers, but finds they cannot make a deal....

He proceeds to the town square, speaking about the process and asking why this occured. The towns folk slowly gather around, speaking to him about the ways of the land.

He then calls them all tax frauds.....

Yeah OP seems like a pain to deal with. I'm going to ignore his sales unless he has Flamingo $1s.
Probably should've led with this part; @mws2019 do you plan on selling Flamingo $1s? And if you do it in an auction, will you actually mail this chips? I can't take another heartbreak. I'm a weak man.

If you are the buyer and you’re looking for protection, you can send via PayPal friends and family using your credit card. You will be hit with a small 2% fee, but gives you the ability to dispute it if the seller does not fulfill your order. And the seller is still getting his $ via friends and family.
I pay for everything with credit cards…I pay for the interest payments on my skymiles Amex with my Amazon visa…I pay the minimum payment on the Amazon card every month with my Hilton card.

It’s all about the points.

I have an opinion or two but both of mine were deleted from this thread yesterday because someone somewhere is a giant pussy. Imagine deleting a 100% real Abraham Lincoln quote.
Crazy huh

IMO if you don't trust me enough as a seller to pay friends and family there's no deal. Simple as that.
I guess you didn't read the post I don't have a PayPal account I don't have a problem doing it but I'm not going to create one in order to jump through hoops. if the seller wants to take Paypal then he can send me a request simple enough. I even offered to pay the 4% additional.

The seller can send you a request to pay via friends and family too. You will still be charged a cash advance fee.

At the end of the day if you don't want to set up a PayPal no biggie, the sellers not for you. Its like going to a vendor that says "no amex" and trying to use amex. They can dictate the payment terms bcuz its their product.

All good tho im sure another seller will have the product you want goos luck!

WISE needs to get more love on this site, especially for international transactions. The exchange rates and fees with PP are highway robbery by comparison.

I thought th IRS reporting threshold dropped to $600 or something ridiculously low as of 2025. Didn’t it?

CRAP. Wish I would have known that. Ignorance is going to cost me on that for last year. Damn.

Quite frankly, buyers and sellers are each entitled to their own terms. If you cant come to an agreement on price, form of payment, and delivery of goods then there is no deal. You referenced "backed out", but there never was a deal if you couldn't agree on all three terms.

It doesn't matter if the seller wants PP G&S or cash in Albanian Lek. If you can't or simply don't want the hassle, you are out. If they wont agree to any of the methods of payment that you are willing to give, they are out. It's simply no deal.

Move on.

WISE? I just got Revolut a couple years back to avoid exchange rate robbery. Now I gotta get something else?
