Just thought I would post an experience I had with a seller recently here on PCF. I won’t disclose names but he’s welcome to post here if he chooses

I recently purchased a couple barrels of chips and had them sent to my friend in the US. We meet up a few times a year so he brings my chips.

Somehow my chips ended up in San Francisco vs Maine. I contacted the seller and he got back to me right away and was looking into it with the post office. He mentioned if he couldn’t get anywhere with them he would just refund the purchase.

Sure enough USPS had made an error and offered no further assistance without going through the claim process(not a high value transaction). Seller offered to refund the total amount but in the end I thought both parties should share in the pain. Since I didn’t request insurance and the seller not only shipped immediately, communicated promptly and offered a full refund I felt it was fair to share some of the costs.

The reason I post this is because recently it feels I’ve been reading posts about negative experiences when in fact 99% of my transactions here on PCF are positive even when the outcome is not ideal like the above.

In a world full of hate there are still lots of good people like the seller above.

I agree with you 100%... I'm far from being a heavy hitter in this chipping game, but the very few times I have had something like this come up with a purchase, communication was quick and issue was easily worked out between us..This is a great group of people. In today's world, there are not many people, most of which I will never meet, that I would comfortably click the PPFF option for $100's in purchases and not worry about it.

This has been true since the CT days. I have to believe a significantly larger amount of money would have been lost through scams and cons were it not for the overall cohesion. Not perfect but pretty good.
