I just got a sample set in the mail and at first in comparison to everything the Jumers chips feel paper light. These are what Paulson's all feel like? In comparison the primary feels smoother around the edges but the secondary are like rough paint. Is this because they have been played less with? Are all Paulson's chips going to be more or less like these?
Secondary is the top row and primary one is at the bottom.

yep, modern RHC giant inlays feel super light

Newer Paulsons do not feel anything lilke the older ones do. The top chips look sharper than the ones at the bottom. The ones at the bottom look clean, but used so that's probably why they are smoother, the ones at the top feel rough because they have all the grit plus the sharp edges. So it's because they've been played with less.

All newer RHC chips will be similar to the ones you have. Chips manufactured before 2006 or before the 2000s primarily will more than likely have some sort of lead content in them making them heavier than standard chips. The ones you have are somewhere around 9g whereas older Paulsons depending on what they are can weigh upwards to 10.5g or so. A noticeable difference when handling singles and barrels, racks etc.

The difference between primary and secondary shouldn't change the weight, at least I haven't seen that before.

They feel paper light in comparison to what? Plastic dice chips with a metal slug in the middle? Yeah you can get chips that are a lot heavier for a lot less money, if that's your thing. I care much more about how chips feel and look and stack and sound than I do about their weight. But yeah, those are probably around 9 grams, give or take. A lot of us will spend a lot of money on older leaded paulsons, and those only come in about a gram and a half heavier. Still a lot lighter than 13 gram chips often marketed as "official casino weight," which is a lie.

I didn’t mind the weight as much, but for some of my friends they ended up much preferring metal insert chips because of being 14 gram heavy chips.

In comparison the the rest of the chips in the sample set I got. It's been over a year since I been to the vegas. Are the chips at Aria manufacturered by Paulson as well? I'm still trying to figure out which direction I should go with for my first set.

Looks like youve got a lot of china clays there - I have no idea what those things weigh.
Part of the problem with a variety lot like that is that you don't get to handle the chips like you would in a game. Ideally you'd like 20 of the same chip, to see how they stack, to hear how they splash, to feel how they shuffle.
And yes, the Aria chips are Paulsons, but on their own house mold, so they'll be slighty different from the RHC mold samples you have.
