Looking for some member feedback. Good, bad and the ugly….

I recently purchased 325 Royals here on PCF. It was a mixed batch of 5K’s and 25k’s. Previous owner relabelled 150 of the 25K’s with new labels and left the other 175 with the stock 25k labels. My intention was to build an inexpensive 43mm cash set and custom label all the chips using the below colours

$1 white (flags)
$5 blue(horseshoe)
$25 greenies
$100 blacks

I’ve always owned standard Vegas colours white 1’s, red 5’s etc. I’m not sure if I’m making a mistake with the blue $5 chips understanding casinos in Vegas and Cali do not use this sort of colour on a $5 chip. Maybe a $1 but not a $5.

Any feedback on colours whether stock label set up or custom welcome. Trying to keep in mind I get bored quickly and might sell at a later time. Not sure how colour choices would hurt resale values etc with this sort of chip.

Cheers

1. Don't think about resale value. These are pretty cheap chips, you'll be able to pass them on but you're not hurting an investment by picking colors.
2. Don't worry about Vegas/Cali colors if you and your players aren't serious casino goers. Mine are weird colors and none of my players have ever had a problem. I'd have a harder time with a white $5 anyways.
3. Your setup sounds fine, little small but whatever works. Enjoy!

Appreciate that. No serious casino goers but a couple guys are stuck on that red $5 lol

What do you mean by small? In total I’ll have around 1200 chips

200-300 $1
600 $5
100 $25’s
50 $100’s

Still figuring a frac colour and possibly 50 $500 chips

I guess I misread, just saw the 325 chips. Sweet, for what kind of game, what stakes? Yeah, some people love the red but when you see it in stacks as the workhorse it'll come naturally, just use whatever makes you happy. My mooks still ask what each is worth and its printed on it so I stopped caring what they thought.

If you're looking for 1/2 or even 1/1, 300 1s is a ton and is more than needed to cover two tables just fine. 1200 is a big number for a single game.

We do in fact play a single table 1/2 however it plays more like a 2/5 at times. The max buy set at $400 but as the night progresses and stack sizes increase sometimes that number is negotiated…..

From time to time I have a few friends that play smaller so I try to accommodate a .50/1.00 game. I’m thinking maybe you are right and 200 1’s would accommodate both size games?

Personally I think so, especially when playing big and for decent money/buyins. At that stage I can trust them to make change; 200 is a barrel per person and no rebuyers are going to request 1s lol. At a smaller game like that, some bets will be $1s but post flop many will just be using 5s anyways.

Never met any yall, just random microstakes opinions. I run a limpfest with apes so take everything I say as half true.

You can use whatever colours you want as long as the denomination is clear. It also helps if your players verbalize their actions and bet/raise amounts so that it is clear and nobody has to guess based solely on colour choices.

Received some barrels of $25, $500, $1000 and 100K. Will post up some photos for opinions but I did notice the pink 100K have what looks like a manufacturing defect. I assume it may be from pressure but not sure. I thought it may be dust or something but it’s not. Didn’t come off after a bit of oil. Below is a photo pre oil where you can see what looks like white impressions around the border. Makes me nervous to order them for fracs

So kicking around the idea of using this setup.

$500 white= $1
25K blue= $5
$25 green= $25
1K yellow=$100

I’m on the fence if I want to get into custom labels. If I don’t I’ll have 500 royals hitting the classifieds……

First, custom labels are always worth it...

Second, don't worry about the discoloration on the pink chips. I believe the biggest benefit of China clay is to get semi-custom chips for an affordable price. The downside is that you can't expect BMW quality at Kia prices. My chips have a similar discoloration in the Blues (see above). Although I can get tilty over little things, the off-colors feels natural during play - like the gunk on casino chips, but not even remotely as gross.

Those look awesome. Who did you labels and artwork? I’m struggling to find the stock Royal artwork if I don’t go custom.

@Gear Labels.

Not only do they know the exact diameter of the label, they know all the colors, in case your custom ideas involve color matching to the chip.

All roads point back to gear. I have a game late January I was really hoping to use these Royals but Gear is 3 months out before they can start work on mine so probably closer to 3 1/2-4 months before I receive them.

I guess good things come to those who wait
