I harvested a few live white $1 chips from a local casino. The chips were in rough condition and are 90% better after being scrubbed with dawn dish soap and then magic eraser on stains/pen marks etc. Still, a significant number of the chips have some dark specks on the chips that I have not been able to remove. Any tips on removing these dark specks without damaging the chips? They're small but are messing with my OCD

Ultrasonic might help but it also might not be possible to fully clean these.

Most likely residue clay from the insert during manufacturing. In order to remove it would most likely damage the chip.

Hydrogen peroxide solution can clean up white chips.
If the specks are the same color as the edge spot, you know they are from manufacturing, as @harrysallout said.

It does appear to be the same color as the chip... I'll start convincing myself that it's less of a defect and adds character. Thanks everyone!
