We had the "Rate this inlay" series in 2020, and since I like polls, I thought I'd start a series to pick PCF favorite line up. I am going to use pictures of samples I own because as usueful as the Chip Guide can be, picture quality is often...subpar. Sadly I don't have that many samples, so you are encouraged to contribute with your own (cash/tournament, casino/fantasy - THC/RHC/TRK, your personal CPC custom...doesn't matter as long as you own the sample)

What you are voting on:
- color progression/combinations
- edge spot progression
- inlay design
How do you rate the overall design of the set?

What you aren't voting on:
- rarity/availability
- condition
- affordability

Still never going to understand how someone can rank chips a zero... so you are stating these are Identical to plastic interlocking Bicycle chips that cost $2 for a pack of 50 with no denoms and weight about 3 grams each!

Absolutely zero credit for an awesome desert/ saloon design, I mean even adding a denom on it should get it to a 1. Starting to look like the old grumpy dudes on another chipping site! Lol BTW who ever voted zero, shoot me a PM if you see me on an attendance list for a meet up you are planning on attending, I will skip! I don't think we are going to mesh well at the tables!

Lmao... a zero!

So on these chips, I don't mind oversized inlays but if you are going to do it the colors need to vary more, definitely don't want to try and mix two of those fracs at the same time! Absolutely love the Skull in the desert and personally I love casinos that infuse limited edition sub chips that you can mix into you set and add some flavor (except for whom ever voted zero who likely wouldn't approve)

Cool concept but not great execution... as there are no votes other than mine over a 3 on these, it's not hard to figure out what I gave them! Had them at a 5 but when I think about the 7s I gave out on other line ups... 4 feels closer to accurate.

I guess y'all just have awesome chips and ours suck! That's enough tires from me to help on this endeavor. Good luck @PocketAces ! Maybe some day I will own some cool chips too

You can see who voted for what, which makes this quote hilarious.

For what it's worth, I have personally been rating these relative to other casino sets, so if Dice/Interlocking plastic chips were thrown up, I would abstain unless there was a negative option. I also think all these large inlay posts are harder to gauge, as they probably need to be see in stacks/racks.

These like the Bahamia probably look amazing from the side. I just can't deal with faces.

I can post a picture of my PNYs and take some of the heat as well, in solidarity:ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

I wouldn't read anything persnal in the way we give score to line ups or the banter that comes with that. I do appreciate an honest/unbiased opinion though. Let's keep this lighthearted.

And I am pretty sure none of us would really give a single fck about the chip design given the chance to sit together at the tables!!!!

Let's see some moar samples @Ben8257!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I give this one a 2. My main issue is that the inlay is so busy that you are almost missing on a very nice choice of spot colors. Visually it simply doesn't work. But as @buffalojim says, a rack view will be entirely different. That's just not enough though (for me at least)

Rack view would help a lot indeed for giant inlay chips

I didn't vote yet, my brain got stuck.
I get it Jim, and agree they aren't great. But as I have said since I joined "it is about variety" instantly when this all started everyone started listing every single shaped inlay leaded THC line up ever. same shit over and over with different colors or inlay art. I understand these are no where near as desirable as those, but at least try to give them credit for what they are.

You played our Rodeo chips.

I guess those are a 1 or 2 to most on here and probably a zero for some, but an easy 9 for me, absolutely love these chips. But "eww oversized inlay fantasy... I wouldn't even let that in my house" is what it seems like with some of these guys! Thought it would be fun to exhibit some different stuff, but as usual... meat, potatoes and Bourbon please! Whatever, why try.

One of the first questions I ask myself is, would I buy these chips? And that's different from Can I AFFORD these chips? I'm not saying money is no object, but assuming I could afford them, would I buy them? And for me with RHC mold chips, the answer is almost always no. I mean, I've bought RHC chips a few times, but I've never kept them. So if these are chips I wouldn't buy, that sort of forces them down to the bottom half of the ratings.
For these chips specifically, though I find giant inlays frustrating, these particular ones are kind of cool. They've got character and they're fun. But even if I could get them mint at a buck apiece, I'd probably pass. So I give them a 3.

They look great in the case!

Woah woah woah Ben, let’s not bring the Rodeo’s into this… the inlay color matching, graphics, and spot colors are WAY better than these :) huge fan of Rodeos here

Also remember these are just ratings based on the design of the face of the chips (not in stacks) and for that reason oversized inlays are at a big disadvantage

Yup. Identical in terms of "how much do I want to have a playable set of these", which is "not at all, thanks".

... and I actually have a playable set of interlocking chips in my collection! (They're antiques, and clay...)

Anyway. My rating: RHC, giant inlays, photo inlays, commemorative chips, busy graphics, graphics that don't mesh with each other (possible exceptions granted for the four chips with the skull) - all adds up to a solid one out of ten. Just the skull chips would be a five out of ten - that design is kind of cool and they go together, but I'd still only want a sample set, not a playable set.

Since you asked: For me, these are an easy five. As a set, they're much nicer than the Statelines posted in the OP - the designs aren't busy, the designs are varied but consistent across the set (which is even better than being uniform), each chip has a great use of color, the colors coordinate and work well across the whole set, and everything fits nicely to a single theme which is very well-executed. The reasons I only give it a five is a) it's RHC and I don't like RHC, and b) it's large inlay and I don't like large inlays, and c) it's rodeo-themed and I don't like the theme.

I give it only a five despite its many outstanding qualities not because the chips are bad but because I wouldn't want to own them myself.

That's absolutely no reflection on your aesthetic sense whatsoever except to say that yours and mine are different, in at least a few respects, and there's nothing wrong with that at all.

I tremendously enjoy the fact that you appreciate these chips, even though I don't appreciate them myself (at least not as much as you do). We're here to share our appreciation for chips, not to share our appreciation for the same chips. At least, I hope so, otherwise I'm completely screwed - ain't nobody here who likes what I like.

I meant no offense Ben, I think you know that. I did play with the Rodeo chips and I thought they were nice. The inlay on those are less busy than above and I would rate them higher than the chips in this thread. They do look great in the case though :) Hey, I like the Empress chips, not much love for those amongst the masses I don't think, but I don't care.

I went 0. They’re awful. Yeah, I would take interlocking bicycle chips over these.

oof, never seen these before. rough. i gave them a 2.

also @Ben8257 these aren't even remotely comparable to the rodeo set you posted - those are giant inlays pretty well done. these are...not that.

I don't own a set of these, not sure anyone does, just a cool sample set! I live limited edition and special holiday chips and the Stateline definitely got into that stuff, just a sample I have built over a couple years!

They also did this ugly masterpiece
20211112_162202.jpg

The Twelve days of Christmas, they are oversized inlay THC, as ugly as they are I love those too! Haha again different strokes I guess. I wouldn't want a playable set, just thought it would be cool to post something other than every single THC line up ever made.

I won't be submitting the Rodeos, I'm ok with liking different stuff without opinions. Lol

For the record I made a reply on the PDC chips which I am not a fan of, but not here to bash peoples collections, so I never posted! again just a testament to this hobbies awesomeness!
