Not rare, but workhorse chips for many of us.

2 x 100 BIN for $107 shipped. $25 Aztars.

2 x 100 $100 opening bid, ($150 BIN) $5 Empress secondary - one of my favorites

The auction format sucks by the way - opening at $100 with a $150 BIN but the $100 auction has a reserve.

1 x 100 $100 opening bid with a reserve for a rack of one dollar Aztar chips.

I detest reserve auctions, but these chips are just the sort that might fit in people's sets.

Thinking about pulling the trigger on some of these chips. Really good price for Paulsons right?

It will be interesting to see if the Empress chips get a bid. I personally think that's a bit much for used, uncleaned, unoiled primary $5's, but the market has moved considerably north on most other Paulsons, so who knows.

Ah sounds like I should do my home work. What do used casino Paulsons go for?

What do used casino Paulsons go for?

There's no short, simple answer to that question. Depends on the casino, condition, denomination, scarcity, buyer's desire, etc. Stardust Poker Mansion $1's and $5's frequently go for between $135-$170/rack, and they're generally in excellent condition & don't need much cleaning. Their $25 counterparts, however, go for $5-$13 *per chip* in the same condition due to scarcity. Racks of Pair-a-Dice $5s have gone for as low as $40 in the past year, but racks of $1's from the same casino will hit triple-digits per rack with ease.

Even w/Paulson's becoming more difficult to find and/or complete a set, my bar on those would be $85, and I feel like even that's a little high. My take on the Empress $5's is due to their relatively high availability, condition, and cleanliness, and is based on buying (literally) thousands of them over the past two years. That being said, I don't think I've purchased any used $5's in the past six months so it's entirely possible the market has moved. .

Those Aztar dollars rarely come up, this will be interesting. Hope the reserve is not high

The market is thin and choppy - meaning not many racks come up for sale and one day they sell for $250 and the next time $80.

<shrug> I don't know what these are worth anymore. The starting price is reasonable enough, but with a reserve and other people bidding the ending price is obscure.

However, these chips will fill in a lot of sets or become the start for a set with reasonable expectation that you can find more like them.

So I put in a bid for the Aztar $1s yesterday, a little bit higher than the $100, and my bid registered around $105, even though my bid was much higher on that, and the item still said "reserve price not met."

So I'm curious to know, for auctions with Reserve prices, does this mean that two or more people need to bid at or above the Reserve price for the Reserve price to be triggered?

For example, (using $5 bid increments for this example) lets assume an item has a reserve price of $120, the current bid is $105, and I put in a bid of $130. Would my bid on eBay then show up as $110, or would it automatically go to $120, since that was the reserve price? Or would it take someone else to bid $115 before my bid jumped to $120, meeting the reserve price?

yes... this is one of the flaws with a reserve auction. Potentially you have a single bidder who is willing to pay over the reserve price, but the auction does not result in a sale because there was not a competitive bid to drive the price up above the reserve. As a seller, I never use a reserve.

Yeah, that is false. If you place a bid at or above the reserve price it will register the reserve as met with the reserve price as the current bid amount.

That is new function then... because I am 100% certain it used to work as I described above.

I stand corrected... I see information dating back to 2006 that describes it as Ronoh states. Its possible it was different before then... I've been on there since about 1998... and I stopped using reserve listings pretty early on and never looked back.

Since Feb 8, 2003 "always", at least. My older account is long gone...

Like I said above... I've been on there since 1998 and got into selling a fair bit around 2001. I distinctly remember getting screwed over as a buyer or seller because of reserve listings... I can't describe the situation... or even come up with a situation... but I remember getting screwed. I may have contacted the seller to find out the reserve amount... I was the only bidder, and above... and it didn't sell... something... it was many years ago.

regardless, it functions properly now. noted.

I remember having problems with reserve auctions back in 2001/2002, too. In one case I had my wife bid against me with her account just to get to the reserve.
